It wasn't an interview. The announcement was made in front of 200+ FTers during the *MegaDo.

Agreed, FRA-NRT-FRA-JFK-FRA both fits into the current JFK and NRT schedule and makes the most use of the A380 for LH on two major routes in two major markets - giving the least idle time and best ROI for LH.

Running the A380 solely on FRA-JFK-FRA would leave 4+ hours of tarmac sitting after 16 hours of total flying time and 4 hours total turnaround time is taken into account.

Anyone have a guess as to which FRA-JFK flight will have the A380 first? LH400 or LH404?

Because LH400/401 will be used to test new business seats during September/October. See posts #100 and #102 in this thread.

Of course, it could even be the LH 400. Anything's possible.

Question

For as much as I know, the Lufthansa A380 inaugural flight will be on 6 June flying from Frankfurt to Johannesburg, taking the German football team to the World Cup.

This should be a public flight and should be taking passengers on board. It would not make any sense to have a special flight only for carrying the football team and private guests.

I tried making a dummy reservation to JNB on LH site for the said date and it shows a 747 not the A380.

Any of you have more info on this?

As mentioned many times it will be a charter flight. The entire delegation is quite large and the flight will be filled with guests. Tickets were available through channels.

Looks like LH 400/401 is going to a A333 from early November per the LH booking engine.

Could be to balance capacity re LH 404/405 getting the 380?

great - that means that the LH404/405 will be the first flights with 380 starting early November...
