Had anyone used this shuttle service? Don't wish to use the flyaway service (x4 guests), but would if required. As I intend to purchase all our physical train (TAP) cards for our trip. Our final train stop is Hollywood/Highland (Red: B Line) before arriving at our hotel. We can't find any actual info on the LAX airport website, or from any searches. IE: "After clearing customs walk to... catching bus 888". Note that getting to Hollywood/Highland will require 2 transfers (C to A to B line) which can be a hassle if you have luggage. If you can swing the cost, Flyaway to Union and then B line will be much more comfortable. |

Just go outside to the curb and look for the pillar that says "Metro Connector", it's not hard to find. The shuttle usually has a lot of airport/airline employees.

Thank you for letting us know about what lines to change to: - Airport bus to closest "Plane station" (Aviation Station) (Travel Green line - Zone C). Purchase out TAP cards for holiday use. - Train between Aviation (Green) & Willowbrook / Rosa Parks (Change to Blue Line - Zone A) - Train from Willowbrook to 7yj Street / Metro Centre (Change to Red line - Zone B) - Exit at our intended train station within Zone B, then walk to our accomodation of choice. I just now need to make a spread sheet so we can have a simple itinerary. :) |

The M bus from LAX probably stops first at the new Aviation/Century station, which is now the new but temporary western terminus of the C Line. You can totally get off there too instead of the soon-to-be-renamed Aviation/LAX station. Just don’t board the southbound K train. |
The geofence may have expanded. Today I needed to cross Sepulveda to the Hyatt to cut Lyft's price from $30 to $10.

Well although not on the left side text list, there are two dots right there at Aviation/Century (on Century)...
C and K Line - LA Metro Frequently Asked Questions Will the Metro Connector shuttle to/from LAX still operate out of Aviation/LAX Station after service is reconfigured? Yes, the Metro Connector shuttle to/from LAX will continue to operate out of Aviation/LAX Station after service is reconfigured, with a new stop at Aviation/Century. The shuttle will move to the new LAX/Metro Transit Center Station when the station opens at a later date. |

There’s a sign at the T7 taxi stand with a number to call to request a taxi. Typically takes less than 5 minutes for a taxi to arrive.
If you want to call ahead while walking over the number is (310) 646-9177 BTW, do I read correctly that it's a fixed fare from LAX to Beverly Hills? |

Does this mean that you should call ahead, as there probably will not be taxis waiting?
BTW, do I read correctly that it's a fixed fare from LAX to Beverly Hills? Usually call once we get there and wait the few minutes. Coming into T7, we have called when leaving the terminal, saving maybe 2 minutes of wait time. I don’t know about the fixed fare. |

There generally are NOT taxis waiting there - think I’ve only seen one waiting there once. It’s a very small area.

Much cheaper than Uber Black (typically around $125), even if curbside pickup was quick. EDIT: I'm guessing that if you call the taxi stand dispatch number you don't get to choose which taxi company you get? |

To confirm what seems obvious, do you just call that number and ask for a taxi for the terminal 7 taxi stand? Give your name so someone else doesn't grab your taxi?
Heard there were some issues about who got which taxi. |
FWIW, you can walk inside from T6 to T7, just follow the signs to UA baggage claim. Then walk outside to the taxi stand. We called for a taxi, dispatch said 5 minutes, but is was there in about 2. Very bad phone connection. He didn't ask for our name. Someone was waiting for a taxi when we got there and one arrived almost immediately. Another person came after us and his taxi came while we were getting into ours.
I was surprised how bad traffic was to our hotel around 8pm. Uber Black estimated around 5 minutes for curbside pickup (they're often optimistic) and about $140. |
I haven't had the opportunity to try this. Waymo is operating in LA now. It can't go into LAX, but can pickup nearby. Maybe the transit center?

Next time I'm traveling light I'll def do that. But my next few trips will unfortunately involved checked luggage - too much work. |

The LAX/Metro Transit Center light rail station opens at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June 6. That station will now be the connection point for the shuttle bus to/from the LAX terminals, until the people mover opens for service. A number of L.A. Metro and other municipal bus routes are being rerouted to serve the station as well.
Full info from the Metro website -- one note is there's no pickup/drop-off area for private vehicles at the new station. |

Metro has not been making it 100% clear in their press releases, but I saw this graphic at the Aviation/LAX station that confirms the two existing Metro shuttle stops are discontinued and only the LAX Metro Transit Center station is used now. Also shows the route of the shuttle.

Yes. No public transit going south or north. Only east.
|
The convenient Big Blue Bus 3 stop (NB only) on 96th/Sepulveda is also gone sadly. Really seems like the only viable stop to/from LAX is the new transit center, which is fine, but the shuttle situation needs to be at least as robust as the economy parking shuttles to not add even more inconvenience.

Anyone plan to take the new metro option to LAX? Any reviews elsewhere?

I assume they must go to the new transit center now, but.... it's a funky bus company so anything is possible. Is the Metro Bus #232 no longer stopping at Century/Sepulveda? Many airport employees rely on that bus, from my observation. |

I checked the website for Redondo Beach Transit, bus 109. It still shows the closed bus center as the destination for LAX.
Please note that most buses will no longer serve the nearby City Bus Center after 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6. There is one exception: Torrance Transit Line 8 will continue through close of service on June 6. These municipal buses will run to LAX/Metro Transit Center beginning at 5 p.m. June 6:

Yes, the 117 is gone too. The new Metro map shows a gaping hole surrounding Century and Sepulveda: https://cdn.beta.metro.net/wp-conten...7x47.5_DCR.pdf |
I saw Big Blue and Culver City buses serving the new transit center on Sunday but I didn't stick around to see the Metro Shuttle to the terminal. I'm a bit skeptical that Metro is operating them... previous shuttles were all operated by LAWA. But I guess anything is possible.

I took the metro from LAX to Norwalk. The bus from TBIT to the station took a while, felt much longer than to the Uber lot. Once there, bought a TAP card (had one at home but didn't bring) using the BART-style machine. Ticket + TAP card cost $3.75 believe. Got off at Norwalk station; Uber'ed home. Was a smooth train ride with normal passengers. This was in the afternoon. Total cost was less than half of Uber from home to LAX. Total time is about doubled.
Not sure if also due to metro opening up, but recent last mile car traffic to LAX have been the fastest I've experienced in the last few years. Usually the last mile takes 30 minutes, now maybe 5min. |

Also, you can put the tap card on your phone... no need to carry the physical card. I haven't used the card in 2 years... just tap the phone and go. Would still be better if they just allow you to tap your credit cards but it is vast improvement already. We are way ahead of some other US cities. |
Whats the best way to save a few bucks if I need a transfer vom LAX to Anaheim?
In the past I took an Uber/Lyft from LAX-it, but the prices are insane at the moment! Can I take a Shuttle to the RentalCar facility or to the Metro Transit Center and hail a Uber/Lyft there? Would this save some money? Or is there even a better "trick"? We will be with heavy luggage, so walking to a nearby location would be insufficient, and I am not feeling good to take a Hotel Shuttle without staying there. |
Take the LAX-It shuttle then walk to the Hyatt across the street and request Uber/Lyft from there. I think that is outside the geofence so you should avoid the LAX surcharges. But probably still subject to surge pricing during peak demand periods.
I walk to In-N-Out before to request Uber and it is definitely outside the geofence. |

I don't think the small savings from the Metro Transit station will be enough to mitigate the eye watering Uber prices for longer distance rides like yours unless there is a surge at the airport. |
