That is an entirely different story. The shuttle connection generally doesn't work for non-connecting passengers, as they tend to want to see a boarding pass or itinerary indicating that you are departing from that other terminal.

And therein is why I asked you wanted to change. They do check your BPs.

nako beat me to it.

I was a Delta Crown Room member for many years. Unlike AA's Admirals Club, CRC's terms and conditions specify you must be flying DL or a partner that day in order to use the room. Fortunately, they don't always check.

LAX is supposed to verify a BP for the terminal in question before letting you take the bus. However on many occasions I was connecting on UA and took the bus to T4 to access the AC. The Bus People were satisfied when I showed 'em my AC card. Note that AC terms and conditions do allow members to access the club even if not flying AA or partner that day.

You can always buy a fully refundable ticket, check in online, get a BP, and use it to access the other terminal. Once you're safely inside the Crown Room, ask 'em to cancel and refund your ticket.

True! A colleague did the same last week at another airport (cant remember where) because he was not aware of the 1 day passes.

The question is: Is it worth to make the efford 1. To buy a refundable ticket, 2. Switch terminals, 3. GET ACCESS (most important because against CR rules), 4. Cancel tix, 5. Wait for refund, 6. Get back to AA terminal

All this for a 3h layover @ OP You have to pass security and switch terminals which will cost you a bunch of time ! Do yourself a favor and buy a dAAypass for the AC !

DL changed this rule in 2006. If you are a CRC member, you can now use any DL Crown Room, CO Presidents Club or NW WorldClubs Lounge, regardless of what airline you are flying. In fact, I do not believe that you even need to be flying at all. For example, I have used the SFO CRC (outside security) when I was just doing some ticketing at the airport.

Of course, security issues still remain a problem with accessing lounges when you are flying other airlines, depending on the airpoirt.

Can anyone (perhaps one of LAX-based brethren) confirm that the LAX Legacy Tunnels have, in fact, been reopened? If so and the T4-T5 corridor is operational, the OP's "problem" is solved.

Thanks for the update. This info (you can use DL CRC no matter which airline you're flying) might be helpful in the future.

Delta's website says you do need to have same-day ticketed air travel.

I have too. They don't always check (especially a few years ago when I lived in the Bay Area and was a CRC regular).

The T4-T5 tunnel was still closed the last time I checked (mid-December). There aren't any airlines using both T4/T5, unlike T5/T6 which does have spillover, which might affect the TSA decision on opening or closing tunnels.

Upon arriving in T4, go to the American Eagle gate. Show the bus dragons your Delta card. Ask them if they know which terminal Delta is in.

note: you already know the answer. You just want to get them into the habit of saying "yes".

Ask them if there's a way to get to the Delta terminal by bus. Ask them which bus do you take to get to the Delta terminal. (They'll explain how you need to ride to the Eagle terminal and change to another bus).

Once you're on the bus, you're home free. Go to the DL CRC, then reverse the process to get back to T4 for your AA flight. Of course on the way back to T4 you have a Boarding Pass, so no hassle factor.

Thanks for the update. It makes no sense that some but not all of tunnels were reopened. I am going to send an e-mail to L.A. World Airports to document my frustration.

Is the terminal 4 tunnel reopened yet? It seems as 5 and 6 have been reopened.

No. As of Monday evening, the NTAC in charge of LAX continues to keep the T4-T5 passageway closed.

LAX/TBIT -- How much time for security?

In a few weeks, I will be flying into LAX and will be visiting a friend for a few hours at the airport or nearby. How much time should I allow to go through security at TBIT? I am taking the 8:00 P.M. flight on SQ and this would be on a Friday evening. Also, is there an elite/preimum security line?

Definitely do not want to miss my flight. If I have my boarding pass, would 7:15 be fine to be at the gate by 7:40 or would this be pushing it? Never flew out of TBIT before. Thanks!

TBIT can have very large crowds as a lot of planes leave at the same time, making the security lines highly variable. But 8 pm is a quiet time (I think; I have only flown out later). SQ probably requires check-in 1 hour before departure time (unless you are flying in F, then it is 30 min), so that might be a factor to consider if you are checking bags. I've never had security at TBIT take over 10 minutes, and usually under 5, but have heard from others of hour-long waits. There isn't a premium lane, but the airlines escort their F pax through (at least CX does this, presume SQ is the same). Most of the time I refuse their offer of an escort because it simply isn't necessary.

I also find that for the most part security at TBIT works pretty well. I can't recall recently having to wait more than 5-10 minutes at the most. Even at VERY busy times. A few years ago there were some fiascos where lines extended all the way out of the terminal onto the sidewalk and towards terminal 3 but nothing like that has happened any time recently. I agree with number_6 that I would worry more about the airlines check-in time limits than security. I frequently check in with <45 minutes to flight time but would not recommend it. EVA always takes good care of me but Asiana denied me boarding and gave away my seat at 59 minutes once because they require a one hour check-in.
