LAX to Palm Springs

Trying to find the best way from LAX to Palm Springs. Land around 1pm and open to a bus or a train? Or is an Uber the only way?

Amtrak operates one train on certain days (3 weekly departures) from LAX to PSN (Palm Springs) at 10pm. Arrives just after midnight. Train continues to points east, eventually New Orleans.

Amtrak also sells a train/bus combination from L.A. Union Station to one of the Palm Springs casinos. The train departs Union Station at 3:10 pm, and connects to the bus at Fullerton. Fare is $19.00 one way. You can take the Flyaway bus from LAX to Union Station for $9.75.

Flixbus also offers service from Downtown L.A. to Palm Springs, but I'm not sure how close their L.A. bus stop is to Union Station.

A one-way car rental is also an option, if the OP has a driver license.

It's near the corner of E Cesar Chavez and Vignes. Right across the street from Union Station, but I don't know if there is a convenient exit from Union Station to where Flixbus is located or whether one has to exit to Alameda Street before heading east.

You can also fly from LAX to PS. I don't think there are direct flights so it takes a while.

eh - not so bad: depending on the distance to the connection and layover time, 4-7 hours:

Also, probably cheaper than Uber.

Well for sure cheaper than Uber. But then you will need a car out there. 7 hours! lol.
Maybe not cheaper....I just noticed that those are one way fares.

So, RT doubles the flight price but you'd still need to add the return Uber too:

Also, there are cheaper AA flights at $224 - the one shown is simply what GFlights offered up in the top 3.

There are a handful of private shuttle services between LAX and Palm Springs, however, they are quite expensive.

And about the same price as the least expensive one day rental car.

IIRC, you should be able to take a walkway from the Flyaway Bus drop-off area (which is on the Vignes side of Union Station) down to the corner of Cesar Chavez & Vignes, directly across the street from where the Flixbus stop is located.

A cheap option via air is Southwest LAX-LAS-PSP. You may need to buy as 2 separate tickets. Will probably be faster the bus or train, and cheaper than an Uber.
