T1 and T2 Terminal Connector?

Is LAWA ever going to connect Terminal 1 and Terminal 2?

Yes, T1.5 project has had all the environmental approvals and reviews but the construction was put off until Delta firms up its T2 construction timeline.

T1.5 is basically a connector building like the T4-TBIT connector. It will have luggage claim in arrival level, ticketing lobby and secured walkway on the departure level, and office/lounge space above departure level.

Unfortunately, it will obscure the final view of the tarmac from the upper street level.

Bummer - that open spot was a great place to hang out on a nice day before a flight. News vans are going to hate losing that photo op.

Is there similarly going to be one that connects T3 and TBIT? Then we'd lose the last open space.

T3-TBIT connector is planned but nothing has been designed or approved yet. But it will probably be done before T1.5 because Delta is going to pay for it as part of the T2/T3 improvements. Whereas T1.5 is a LAWA project and Southwest is not paying for any of it.
