Recommendation for a wedding night hotel
Hi,
i am getting married in July and am looking for a hotel in the (greater) LA / coastal / Pasadena areas to stay at for my and my fiancées wedding night. I have scoured TripAdvisor and flyertalk and have whittled down the options to a couple that I like the look of. I would really appreciate some opinions on these hotels and/or any others that you think might be (even) better. We aren't flying to our honeymoon destination until the late evening of the day after, so staying in a hotel a little way away from the airport isn't a problem. I have a couple of desires/parameters: - 4 or 5* hotel with impeccable service. - Hotel to have a great romantic vibe. This is highly subjective, but it's safe to say that I am not looking for a standard chain hotel. - Hotel rooms to be quiet and private. Bonus points if the rooms offer a double shower / jacuzzi / bathtub. - My fiancee really appreciates being outdoors, so an opportunity to walk around beautiful grounds or a beach would be lovely. - Less than $500 - $525 /night Hotels that I have picked out so far (in order of preference): - The Langham Huntington, Pasadena - The Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, Santa Monica - Viceroy Santa Monica Thanks very much, Jon |
Can't offer hotel advice, but can offer congratulations.

Thanks! :D

I don't know about prices, but the Hotel Bel Air and the Beverly Hills Hotel have beautiful grounds and reputations for impeccable service.

Shade--Manhattan Beach or Redondo
Shutters--Santa Monica Casa del Mar--Santa Monica Beach House Hotel--Hermosa Beach I know there are several in Marina Del Rey but I don't know the names...I had dinner at the Marina del rey hotel last summer and it was excellent but I don't know anything about it. Congratulations!! |
We have friends who live on the east coast and love The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica. They stay in an ocean view suite and enjoy the access to good restaurants and the beach.

To start with, I'd like to offer my congratulations, cautiousjon!
I'd also like to offer the suggestion of the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach, California. mrs. iapetus and I have been there a couple of times and really enjoy it. The attached restaurant is pretty good, too. We typically try to spend a night at a hotel for our anniversary, which is in June. I'll be looking to stay at the Portofino this year (though I was running into minimum stay issues ). If that doesn't work out, we may go to the Langham ... even though it is oddly close to home (we live in the neighborhood, so I don't know how much it'll feel as though we're really getting away ;)). |
I might add the Terranea Resort down in Palos Verdes: http://www.terranea.com/
Beautiful location, not terribly far from LAX, and nice grounds to walk around on a cliff over the ocean. You can also wander down to the water. It's not a sandy beach, though. |
