Getting through Customs @ SNA & ONT

Few days ago I came back through SNA from IAH. We parked at gate 14 and when we exited the bridge into the terminal, I noticed there are two doors - one straight ahead and the other on the left. The one straight that was open for us led to the regular boarding area while the one to the left which was closed has a CBP signage at the door to indicate a pathway into the inspection facility. I assume this is one of the "swing gates" John Wayne uses for both domestic and international?

Anyhow, does anyone have experiences going through CBP in SNA and/or ONT that they can share? How many officers/booths are normally open per flight for the passport control? Do SNA & ONT have their own team of officers that specifically only work at each of these locations or are they CBP officers who mainly work at LAX who get rotating shifts to these two airports from time to time?

Are international arrivals still being processed at the old remote building over at ONT? I don't ever recall any customs facilities at T2 nor T4. However, both Volaris and AM use T2 for departures. Does this mean when their flights arrive, the a/c docks at T2 and pax go down a stairway into a bus and be shuttled over to that remote building for processing?

Well, I flew AM out of ONT 10 years ago (2006), we departed out of T2 (jetway) and arrived at the remote terminal (stairs to deplane). The aircraft was then towed to T2.
