The ANF suggestion was more a comment on the linked article than a particular recommendation for the OP. I agree there are great hikes all over the region.

The Huntington is always a really nice place to take visitors.

Cruise to Catalina? Lá Brea tar pits? Disneyland? Studio tour? Museums? There are so many things to do you may want to narrow it down by enquiring about her interests.
