4 days in LA on my own
 

Hi All,

I am visiting LA for 4 days and would like some tourist destination suggestions.

I will be staying in Santa Monica for 1 night to check out the pier and go for a bike ride down to venice beach.

Then stay in Holywood district the next night

Then off to Universal studios the 3rd day and stay there.

Finally going to Beverly Hills and staying there

Other that the main attractions everyone know's about, what are the smaller atractions that would be good in the LA area...is it worth it to go to Disneyland by yourself.

The Getty Museum near Beverly Hills is great!

I go to Disneyland by myself all the time :)

And the single rider lines at Disneyland mean you can get through the rides a lot faster.

Are you not renting a car? Why are you hotel hopping? LA is big but there isn''t a need IMHO to check out of one hotel just to check into another.

Yes, I am getting a hire car so it will be easier to get around. Some of the hotels are BRG'd so that's why i'm moving around alot.

Choose the ethnicity you find most interesting and spend a half day in the area best known for that culture - Chinatown, JapanTown, Olvera St, etc. While NY and San Francisco are often cited for interesting cultural diversity, LA is really a hidden gem.

Disneyland is far more worth a day (or two, or three) than Universal. JMHO...

La Brea Tar Pits and Page Museum are awesome.

For a strange museum that I haven't been to, there's the Museum of Jurassic Technology.

If you want great chinese food, skip chinatown and go to the San Gabriel Valley (San Gabriel, Monterey Park, Arcadia, Alhambra) - find reviews of various regional chinese cuisines in Jonathan Gold's reviews in the LA Weekly (old ones) and LA Times (new reviews).

I don't know if you are already planning to see the Space Shuttle, but highly recommend it.

Hi Guys,

Just some feedback from my time there in LA.

I arrived 1 day late which it rained all afternoon so I lost a day not doing anything.

I just did all the usual touristy stuff like Rodeo Drive, Walk of Fame, Universal Studios, hung out in Beverly Hills.
Went to Newport Beach, Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier. Also took a trip to Commerce to check out the Casino.

I didn't eventually go to Disneyland as some of the rides were closed for renovations in each park.

If you go any time other than summer, Christmas and Spring Break, something will be closed in each park.

If you go during summer, Christmas and Spring Break it will be too busy to ride everything anyways.
