Sydney

Curious if anyone knows where's the best place to stay in Sydney. Four Seasons or Oriental? Maybe somewhere else? Where's the nightlife all situated?

Thanks for your help!

If this is your first trip to Sydney you will love it! Great city (once you get over the flight). Sydney is not large, you can walk everywhere. The gay area is located along Oxford St by Hyde Park, although it is less gay then before. Staying at either hotel will not make a big difference. The gay area is a short walk or cab ride from either. If you want to be around the corner there is a Marriott (not the harbour View) right on the corner of Oxford St. It is not as nice as the Four Seasons or Oriental. Also the Sheraton is close.

Enjoy it!

PS If you are an American be sure to get your Visa for Australia before you go. The airline can generally do it.

Check out the Stickie in the Australia and South Pacific forum - one of the regulars (who is a travel agent) will organise it for free.

I'm headed to Sydney in November and have considered the Marriott, if for no other reason than I might swing it with points.

Has anyone got any info on the Hotel Grace? Seems nice and appears to have some GLBT ties.

I stayed at the Sheraton on the Park last year. Great hotel and great location - handy for Oxford rd. Wish I was going back soon, fabulous city...

Checkout the Westin. It was wonderful especially the room I had in the historic wing. It's about a 15 minute nice walk to Oxford which was easy to do.
