We are thinking about coming up... IF the ferry is operational by then from Rochester.

It was in today's Globe that the ferry starts regular runs on June 19th.

Assuming that they can get the "emergency" engine repairs completed by then. We're booked on the ferry YYZ-ROC on July 23 and ROC-YYZ on August 2. I'm VERY excited about avoiding the QEW on a Friday afternoon and holiday Monday, so I hope it's up and running (and not bankrupt) by then!

Oh, good, I want to take the ferry - could do JetBlue from JFK to Rochester - Is it difficult to get from the airport to the dock?

I would probably Priceline for the Courtyard, for accommodations.

Since the Courtyard is the closest hotel to the gaybourhood, and they are usually packed over Pride, I would be surprised if they release much inventory to Priceline for that time period.

Yipppeee, my fave excuse for bopping off to T'ronna The Good.
Will be staying at Dundonald Huse, 35 Dundonald Street an easy block north of the Yonge and Wellesley "Toobstop."
Typically hosts Dave and Warren (just tied the legal knot a couplke of weeks ago, see thier pix at www.dundonaldhouse.com) reserve the house for special friends, so I can't exactly urge anyone to expect accomodations during Pride '04.
Ross and I have been visiting for 5-6 years now, and would not be so happy to return if the experience were anything other than so much fun.
Plan to stay at DH any other time you're in TO.... and NO, I don't get paid for tooting their horn.
Happy Pride, all,
Moi

I'm actually going to be in TOronto that weekend - didn't realize it was pride but hey, why not? Staying at the Sheraton downtown. ^

I (quite literally) live down the street from the Dundonald House, and while I've never been inside, from the outside it looks like a fantastic place to stay. The owners obviously put a lot of time and money into the appearance of the place. It's pretty much guaranteed that it will be "over-the-top"'ly decorated for each holiday - it must be a lot of work to gussy the place up for Pride Day, then take it down and put up the Canada Day decorations, then do it all again a few days later for the 4th of July.

Oh, go!

Present yourself on their doorstep, introduce yourself to Dave and Warren. You might tell 'em their computer geek friends--the ones who supplied their flat panel monitor and will be bringing other such goodies--counseled you to fall by and look the place over. They generally LOVE to show DH off and it richly deserves it. Have Dave tell you how he and Warren met.
Their website actually has our pix on it; click on contact us/pictures and links. Ross is the hunk, I'm the "bad hair day"... :->)
Regards!

I may drive up for Pride. Looks like I have that weekend free...for now anyway.

A quick check online indicates the Courtyard and neighboring Days Inn are sold out for that weekend.

Try UAL

[
United VACATIONS (unitedvacations.com) is offering a 3 day package air+hotel that looks ...relatively...reasonable. Bonus, 4th night is "free."
In a pinch, you might give 'em a try. No, I don't work for UAL, nor UV.
Happy Pride, eh? :)

More on TO

Okay, so the connection is tenuous, but here goes:
I did a price check on line yesterday, 5/23, at UAL's website and was saw a price of 510.11 for the dates and flights I wanted, EWR-YYZ. I then called UAL's 1K number (prompt service!) where an agent quoted me a fare price of OVER $2,000 for the exact same flights, dates, times, numbers. When I pointed out they seemed high (understatement of the year) the agent agreed, said they were having diffculties computing international fares, consulted with someone else while I waited, returned with exactly the same internet fare of $510.11. I got a res number and hung up.
Ten minutes ago, on 5/24, I went online to make the purchase myself (hey, I'll take the 1,000 mile bonus for buying online) and the price was about $22 LESS than I was quoted or saw the day before. I don't recall this ever happening before, and, once again, all particulars are the same. I thought yield management was designed to soak the customer, not the carrier....?

DavidDTW May 25, 2004 9:40 am

Aren't minor price fluctuations like that caused by exchange rates going up or down?
