Computers down?

I called LP today to see if there was any update to the postings in my account. I was told that the computers have been down since August 3rd and no updates have been done since then. They told me to call back next week, has anyone else heard something like this.

Yes. They claim due to thunder storms.

This really sounds like a bunch of ****! I can not imagine any company today taking three weeks to recover from a "power surge". They must make backup data tapes daily, and should be able to restore to the last good tape set. This excuse is extremely lame! I work in the networking field and I have never told anyone their system would be down for three days much less three weeks. I wonder if the portion of the network that makes out the payroll is also down? Somehow I doubt it. The only ones who are out of luck are those of us waiting for our miles to post. I wonder how many people have a actually had bonus miles posted. Certainly nobody lately.

My husband's account had all qualifying activity posted about 20 days ago. BUt they are saying that due to the crash, they cannot see the 'main' system.
My account had one thing (the hotel stay from Holiday Inn posted, but they could not see how many nights), I posted the reciept about a week and a half ago, and they claim that they are backlogged on receipts.
So I wait!
Anyway, my concern was claiming awards. I wanted to get a ticket on KLM for my family to visit next year. LAtin pass cust reps told me that even after the ticket is issued, if we wanted to make any date changes, the ticket will haev to be sent back to Latin Pass, be re-issued and then I will have to send it to my parents in India. They cannot get the ticket reissued by the KLM office in India. This could take weeks!!

Oh Great, at least the thread saved me a frustrating phone call as three weeks ago I was told by LP to expect to have everything posted by mid to late August. I'm hoping that my miles don't expire before they get posted.

I must admit that I've had nothing but great experiences w/ the LP staff. They are always most helpful on the phone and my Million posted about 3 weeks after my last flight. I transferred 200K to Aces program and that took 3 days. Am taking a trip to Costa Rica next week and I got my ticket 6 days after I mailed them the request w/ the $14 money order. I didn't even request expedited service although it stated that I should have due to the late request.

Really sorry to hear you all are having such a hard time but just thought you should know some of us are having only positive experiences..... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
