I think if we should learn anything from this experience (and we should always be learning) we should realize the miles we have in any program should be used as soon as possible. A mile earns no interest when kept in an account and does not fluctuate in value like international currencies. From the moment you put a mile in any frequent flyer program it begins to loose value. I have been a member of many programs for a very long time and that is one thing I am certain of.
I must admit I was very lucky as to when our bonuses posted, I followed these boards very closely at that time; and although we finished our trip at the end of the promotion; (our last flights were at the end of June) Our bonuses posted as some of the first. Isn’t there a saying “the first shall be last, and the last shall be first”.

I do have great empathy for you, I know when a company treats me badly I do not do business with them any longer. I do not blame you for your anger but I would point out very few who did the million mile run are complaining. Those who benefited should show gratitude and those who didn’t, do what your heart tells you to do.

LP tried to engender loyalty thru a bonus scheme, but could not support the program, so they arbitrarily nationalized people’s miles, which led to a mass exodus to safer havens, which only increased the pressure to find ways to devalue LatinPass miles. Other than a TWA trip for two to NYC, and two F/C tix to Belize, I decided that it was better to take a slight haircut and move to safer currencies, Hilton and Marriott. At the end, LP only seized 4k of my stash, which had no usable value.
I do have a lot of gratitude in that about $1200 paid off with over a 10 x return, not to mention some good cocktail party stories, but gratitude does not equal loyalty, or else I’m still with my first girlfriend.
