Rapa Nui connection in SCL
 

Hi all,
I have an upcoming itinerary to Rapa Nui. The flights are JFK-SCL-IPC all on one ticket. I know there are some extra check in requirements for those on flights to Rapa Nui. I was wondering if they do these extra steps when I check in at JFK or do they all have to be done in Santiago.

I see that Latam recommends checking in 4 hours in advance and the itinerary they sold has a shorter connection time in Santiago than that. So, just wondering what to expect.

The additional checks are done in SCL, domestic terminal. There is a separate security and inspection entrance for IPC flights located on the second floor (normal security for domestic flights is on the 3rd floor). If you show up 2 hours before you'll have plenty of time. Walking from the international arrivals to the domestic terminal should take you less than 10 minutes. Remember you'll need to collect your bags and go through customs and immigration in SCL!

Thanks for the info, SCLflyer. Reading through comments on tripadvisor forums made it seem like there was no possible way to make this connection.

Anyways, we won't have checked bags, have sky priority and move relatively quick. So, I just wanted to make sure we can make it as long as the incoming flight is on time.
