New route LIM-LHR from 1 December 2023

A few weeks ago LA announced the launch of a new Lima – London Heathrow service from 1 December 2023. The route will be operated five times weekly.
LA2488 LIM2055 – 1355+1LHR 789 3
LA2488 LIM2100 – 1400+1LHR 789 x346
LA2489 LHR2230 – 0635+1LIM 789 x57

It's an interesting addition and I suppose this means that LA has obtained a new, expensive slot at Heathrow. In December and January, the route will be flown
with the B789 that is currently used for the LIM-MAD route, whereas the LIM-MAD flight (LA2484/2485) will then revert to B763 for two months, which will mean a longer flight time. From 1 February, LA2484/2485 is scheduled to be operated with B789 again - perhaps LA will acquire an additional Dreamliner by then or assign it from another route.

I hope the new route will be successful. A few years ago BA restared the LGW-LIM service, but after some time there was a frequency reduction and the flight never returned after covid. LA will fly to Heathrow, which is a substantially better airport for connections than Gatwick.

Do you know the layout in the business class? Will it be the seating 2-2-2 or 1-2-1 whereas each seat has a direct access to the aisle?-

Geez.
Heathrow is awful for connections.
I can't imagine what Gatwick is like (never been).

I don't think LA is thinking in connections.... Is more to connect people from Chile/Peru/Ecuador, to London. For connections they have Madrid and well connected from LIM/SCL/GRU

I connected once at LGW in 1980 Never been back!
Even if LHR is awful for connections (and the only semi-tolerable ones are T-5 int'l to T-5 int'l, the route makes a lot of sense for anyone flying to the UK or EI .

LHR is among the world's largest airports and a hub for BA, so it offers a considerably higher number of connections than LGW. LGW is mostly a point-to-point airport. Most European non-low-cost airlines fly to LHR, rather than LGW. From most cities in Europe, the connecting flights to LHR are shorter than to MAD. I'd rather connect at LHR than make an international transfer at any US airport.

The reason why LA will operated B763 instead of B789 on the LIM-MAD route in December and January is the lack of B789 crews in LA Peru.

Thanks. This was my bad dream, I suspected this seating 2-2-2.
