LATAM Brasil / Delta upgrade issue
Hi all, sorry if this is a very basic question but I'm struggling with this one.
I live in the US, and my client in Brazil booked a roundtrip ticket for me on LATAM from NYC to Curitiba through a travel agency. The JFK to GRU leg is marketed by LATAM but operated by Delta, and obviously GRU to CWB is on LATAM. I've been trying to upgrade the outbound segments. LATAM's website shows me that option when I try to change my flight, and I can pick the upgraded flight, enter my payment details but after I submit everything I get a "An unexpected error has occurred". I am trying to pay with a US Amex Platinum card, and it even goes to the Amex verification screen that I can pass successfully - it really fails on the very last step when it's about to display the change confirmation. I also tried to use a VPN to use the LATAM Brazil website but it's not working either.
I called LATAM in the US: they tell me to call LATAM in Brazil. I called LATAM in Brazil, and they told me they can't change the outbound because it's operated by Delta and I should reach out to Delta - which we all know is not going to work.
Anyone has a tip, or is there something that I'm missing? I don't want to reach out to my client and have him go back to the travel agency, and the upgrade cost should be on me anyway. Any advice appreciated!

If the ticket was booked through a Travel Agency I don't think you can change your ticket directly with LATAM, at most you would be able to do an UPG Bidding and see if there is a "Pay Now" offer, but that would only work for LA-operated flights
If that option doesn't appear for you, you will need to contact the travel agency directly
