Advice needed for codeshare flight seat selection
Hi,
I am holding a reservation for LATAM ticketed flights HEL-MAD-SCL-MAD-HEL, The outbound long haul flight MAD-SCL is operated by LATAM (LA705), but unfortunately the inbound flight is a code share flight LA5410 which is actually operated by Iberia IB6830. So the question is: How to get seat selection done for this Iberia operated flight? As OW Emerald I should be entitled for a free seat selection, but it now seems that I am not able to make the seat selection either at LATAM or Iberia websites. At both websites I can see the flights, but no option for the seat selection for this Iberia operated leg. Did contact the IB Twitter team about the issue, but they were zero help. Any advice? |

Call Iberia. I have flown on tickets operated by IB but marketed by LA and every time I have have had to call IB to get a seat assignment.

I called the IB customer service in Spain, but unfortunately the outcome was the same as sluneckov experienced...the service agent tried many times to overcome the issue, but she said that the system tells her "restricted". I guess the only option is to try OLCI as soon as possible, or try to sort this out at the airport when checking in for the flights. Real beauty of these codeshare flights?! Real OneWorld experience :-(

Well they do at least assign you a seat I believe once you have ticketed the itinerary as I was assigned 5A on a GRU-MAD leg which I changed to 6A calling IB. May be a matter of having an agent that is willing to do it for you. You can get IB record locator from LA since they sold you the ticket.

In my case I can't see any seat assigned for this Iberia flight, but it seems now that I do have to pick the seat what is left when checking in at the airport. Unfortunately flying in economy, and would like to have an aile seat. Well, lesson learnt: Avoid the codeshare flights if possible! I had no idea before that nobody (not LA or IB) can help with the seat selection!

ok may be different for an economy fare as I was in J. So depending upon the fare it may restrict seat selection until check in

Can be, however I would expect quite expensive 'B'-fare to allow seat selection...I still think this is some silly caveat between the LA/IB codeshare handling :-(
