Booking two tickets same flight same name

Hello all,

So being my first time doing a multicity, yes I know stupid enough to book flights on separate intinieries, I realised I possibly not have left enough time for a transfer (international to domestic).

Now the ticket is non-refundable, non-changable which is fine since it's my fault I'll have to suck it up and get a new flight, but I'd like to get my subsequent flight confirmed before I cancel the first one.

So basically I'd like to do this:

First intiniery

Flight A x/x/2015 Flight B x/x/2015

get a new intiniery

Flight C x/x/2015 Flight B x/x/2015.

I don't need to change the flight back since that works for me, however since when I'm buying the second ticket I haven't cancelled the first flight B, would there be any issues booking the flight?

Yes I was stupid and booked a less than 90mins layover for an international to domestic transfer. Call that a few hundred dollars lesson

Would be a lot easier to help you if you provided the carrier(s) and actual routing. General questions get general answers and those are often wrong.

If the website allowed you to book it, then they may be on the hook to reschedule it for you, or similar arrangement.

At worse, if it's a cheap trip, buy the single leg if it's the last on an itinerary.

No this is the first leg.

So the trip will be

LIM-SCL (this itself is a layover but its on the same intiniery and no need to go through customs)
SCL-ANF (85mins layover at SCL)

They are all on LAN airlines however since the second trip is domestic I'd have to go trough customs, and get myself to the domestic terminal. I've figured that this flight will be close to impossible to make, even if they'd interline my baggage (unknown yet).

The reason I did it was because I'm coming from another city and I didn't want to have to return there to catch a flight because it's kind of out of the way (if I had it all in one intiniery)

I'm fine with paying for another ticket, that's not the issue, but I don't want to cancel the first one until I know that the second one's booking went through, would the system be like oh there are two John Doe's with the same ID, sorry we've already got you on, you can't book it?

Welcome to Flyertalk random1994. As your flights are on LAN, I am moving your thread to our FT LAN Forum.
Please follow there....
Thanks..

Hi random1994, welcome to over here.

Don't think it is a problem. But if you do then just make a reservation for the second that you can pay after cancelling the first? That is doable.

So I've been looking around for information for the last week or so and apparently if both airlines are on oneworld they treat it as one ticket?

e.g.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...e-tickets.html

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/23549101-post1.html

I'll go ask LAN as well but does anyone know about this?

I've checked my flights and LAN does offer them on one PNR, so according to them the connection is possible, but below MCT by 5mins

However I'm not sure if I can check my bags straight through since it's a international to domestic connection. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Btw here's a screenshot of them offering under one intiniery

Why does your screenshot not show Base Fares?

You are right on about OneWorld helping you on separate tix.

You can get your BPs ahead and get bags tagged all the way. I'd say you need to pick them up intl-domestic for transfer but my experience with intra-SA flights has varied a wee bit so I am hesitant to comment on your itin definitively.

Even if they were tagged all the way you still need to go up to the third level to drop off your bags after leaving customs.

How long immigrations and customs takes will depend on the line (time of day) and if you need to pay the reciprocity fee (Canadians and Australians).

I'd guess LIM-ANF is pricing as one-way and base fares are round-trip or not eligible for LIM-ANF...
