Upgrades on TAM
Dear all,
I am flying soon on Tam, (booked through LAN). Does the airline have any policy on upgrading my tickets from Economy to Business at the airport, or for purchase before my flight? Any help provided would be deeply appreciated! Thanks. |
Hey coffeeblack
The only way to get Upgrades on LAN or TAM, is to be at least a Tier3 member on their fidelity programs (LANPASS or Fidelidade). This means "Ruby" in the OW vernacular. Then you get some "coupons" to use and, depending on your fare, can get upgraded. Funny thing is that if you're a LANPASS member, you don't get upgrades on TAM iron and vice-versa. This is on the roadmap. You can also have confirmed UPGs using miles, if the "U" bucket is available. Hope this helps :) |

The only way to get more coupons is to have LANPASS status, Premium or above. Depending on the tier you hit, the number of coupons. Comodoro and Comodoro Black get unlimited coupons (much like the 500 miles stickers of AA) for UPGs, and 6 for companions.
Access to premium seats is blocked only for Emerald members :( |
Maybe I should make myself clear, I don't mind paying cash for the upgrade.
I am not a member of either frequent flyer programme so I knew from the outset that it wasn't going to happen. I'm more interested in finding out if the airline offers upgrades at the airport ticketing desk. |
Hi
They don't offer that. You have the option, if there's availability, to buy a full J ticket at the counter, adding the "Y" fare penalties to the difference of price from one ticket to the other. |
Thanks. I've booked me and my fiancee one upgrade on one of the flights, that was relatively cheaper to upgrade. Thanks for all your help guys.
