LIM-LAX

Have you guys notice any sort of trend on when LAN opens up business tickets on LIM-LAX route. I am looking for two tickets the first week of Dec. I should have booked it couple months ago, but my plans weren't solid at that point.

I know united opens up tickets at the last minute. I was wondering if these guys do anything similar. Sucks that I can use expert flyer to track award seats. Are there any other tools that would let me set up alerts for LAN awards?

Good luck. I have been writing Attn. Elite this week asking why the minimal LIM-LAX award price (50,000 km. each way), has now disappeared and has doubled. Of course I haven't received any coherent answer. As far as availability goes, they usually open about 10 months out. Expert flier and KVS won't work for LAN.

When I checked a few months ago there were tons of business class seats. Everything is super dry now.

It seems that something strange is happening on this route. Luckily I got my Awards until next May before things went south. Just have to keep checking back because LAN will not tell you anything, nor even be concerned.

aegt123 Aug 24, 2013 1:35 pm

Alright. Let me know via this post if you see the seats coming back. I have the thread on instant subscription.

I will do the same if I see any changes.

Actually, the KVS Tool does support LA/XL/LP/4M Award Availability:

Actually, does the KVS tool really support? Just show a screenshot of award availability LIM-CIX LP anytime in September?

Why do you believe that there is actually [positive] Award Availability on that route in Sep?

Here a random example of LA Award Availability showing:

Shows what I know about KVS and I've been a Diamond member for three years.

Why do I think there is award availability LIM-CIX?
Because there is... and on every single day of the month to boot. Example:

Itinerario
Jueves 12 septiembre 2013 15:10 Lima (LIM) 16:40 Chiclayo (CIX) LA2276 Operado por LAN PERU Económica-T
Viernes 20 septiembre 2013 23:55 Chiclayo (CIX) 01:05 (Sábado) Lima (LIM) LA2281 Operado por LAN PERU Económica-T

And with your LIM-SCL example, there are 1/2 dozen flights with available award seats on that day, why does it only show two? Did you limit the search for some reason?

(Ps I signed up for KVS Diamond because of your post that KVS does show LP awards ("Actually, the KVS Tool does support LA/XL/LP/4M Award Availability"), only to find I cannot make it happen... yet)

There may be an Engine issue with that specific point (CIX) for partner redemptions.

No, however, LA can make additional Award Seats available to its own FFP members [only], which would not be available to its partners.

Hmmm... No not just that one point CIX, it fails for TRU, CUZ, PIU, TPB, TPP, AQP, JUL...etc. The engine seems to fail for any LP domestic flight. And I cannot get it to work for any LP international flight either. You seem to suggest it generally works, but not one point CIX. I now believe it does not generally work, but maybe with exceptions (code shares). I will leave it with you to show a screen shot of any award availability on any LP flight anywhere in Peru anytime in my lifetime.

Your post stated "Actually, the KVS Tool does support LA/XL/LP/4M Award Availability". I took that to mean the KVS tool does support LP award availability. I find your last comment confusing... only seats available to partners? So if I am AA FF, KVS when queried about award seat availability would only show me AA partner availability, not AA availability? So KVS only shows me LA partner availability, not LA availability?

It would be nice to clear up the confusion for me. Thanks in advance.

Every airline is different: LA has 3 Award Types ("Classic", "Plus", "Full") and the KVS Tool supports Standard ("Classic") Awards. LA may also make additional Awards available to its own members. Additionally, LA is known to have occasional connectivity issues with its partners.

AA has 2 types of Awards and both are supported by the KVS Tool. The other 2 issues do not apply to AA.

Thank you! When I do it I get "No Award Availability/Engine Error":

[KVS Availability Tool 7.2.4/Diamond - Awards/OneWorld/AU-QFA-MLT]
Code:

CUZ  Cuzco Velazco Astete PE [SPZO]
LIM  Lima Jorge Chavez Intl PE [SPIM]

I remain confused, sorry. What does "LA may also make additional Awards available to its own members" mean to me? I am a member and I do want KVS to search all LA award seats available to me. I am using LanPass kms, wanting to book award seats on LP.

Maybe we need a separate thread so we can all learn about using KVS and any LA idiosyncracies.

david_33 Aug 26, 2013 8:53 am

Anyway, as the OP said, it appears that almost all awards have disappeared, even at 100,000 kms. each way. Starting at July and working back, they first begin to appear in April. I got a May award a couple of months ago. They will never admit that there is a problem with the webpage/system.
