Baggage check through on seperate pnr

Want to know if LAN will check my baggage through

Current ticket is JFK 22.40 - 06.20 LIM
Want to buy separate ticket which is LIM 08.00 - 13.35 SCL

LAN does sell these flights as one ticket but will they check my bags in at JFK direct to SCL and just let me transit in LIM or do i need to collect bags and check in again which rules out the flight i mentioned.

Thanks.

LATAM doesn't allow baggage through on separate tickets https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onew...hreads-12.html

Less than two hours is very tight since you would have to clear inmigrations, check your baggage and then clear inmigrations again

I have a similar situation. But I don't mind if I need to check in bags again. I only care about protection in case the first flight is delayed and then I miss the second one. Does LATAM offer protection in such cases and will reroute me in a different flight? Or will consider it a non show, even when it was because of a delay of another LATAM flight?

I would be suprised if LATAM or any airline took responsibility or offered protection.
