Seat selection not free for Oneworld Sapphire & Emerald?

Hi,

I just made a booking for a domestic flight between SCL-PNT and added our BA FF numbers during the booking but it says I need pay for seat selection, however we are Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald which I understand means it should be free even for LTAM+ seats? Any ideas why this is please?

Thanks!

Ha! I cannot answer your question, but also just booked SCL-PNT for two (Emerald&Sapphire), and was wondering about exactly the same thing.

However, as the seats only cost around 5£ per pax and direction, and expecting some impressive views, I simply decided to pay for window pairs close to the front.

Hehe that's funny! When are you heading down there? Torres del Paine I guess?

You're right it is only £5 but I am a cheapskate

I have been able to select the seats without choosing to go to payment and they seem to be saved if I exit and go back in so I don't know if that means they are reserved or not. Weird. We flew some domestic flights last year in Peru with LATAM and didn't have any issue selecting seats for free so not sure why it isn't working now.

Yes, Torres del Paine mainly, the very end of January.

Call contact center and they'll select your LATAM+ seats for free. Sometimes the website doesn't work very well selecting this kind of seats, so you better call LATAM.

Check in staff are normally quite good and proactive in assigning status pax the plus seats - even if you donít ask for it!

We also booked a LA flight with Avios last month and on the BA app, it had already assigned us a plus seat!!

My partner and I had plus seats on all our LA flights as BA OWE/OWS. Good luck!

Wow, LATAM have just proactively contacted me to reimburse the cost of the seats that OWEs get for free. Impressive service
