LAN vs Iberia Prices MAD->FRA

I just looked up the cost of an Iberia flight in Business from Madrid to Frankfurt on Iberia.com. It's 386.

I looked at the cost of a LAN flight, also Business, on the same journey, on LAN.com. Cost is 88.40.

That's a hell of a difference. Why is one so much cheaper than the other?

LAN is heavily discounting this route operated by themselves. The plane comes from South America and makes a stop in MAD so they try to fill the empty seats of the pax that leave in MAD.

And by the way due to the 787 with it's seats it's a great product for a SH.

The business class does look great.

If I went the miles route it would cost 15000 avios plus 15 in tax, but I'm not sure I would waste 15000 avios on a business ticket I could get for 88 quid!

And thanks btw!

Why waste that many avios in a cheap fly. You can get at least 2200 for that fly (clasic).

Just looking at the mileage calculator on BA - it says 1104 so assuming you mean a return.

40 tier points for 88 quid though!!! (and I'm only Blue)

I am flying this route in Feb, from FRA to MAD, and is booked to Z (business) class.
According to ba.com, no miles and TP will be entitled, but I will just see what happen.

You should get the TPs. See the comments on this article:

You will definitely get the TPs and Avios, even according to BA: http://www.britishairways.com/en-de/...-avios/flights (just click on "LAN").

I got the TPs when I took that flight in Z.

It looks very handy (and cheap) for getting 40 TP in a TP run.

Just did the FRA-MAD leg tonight. Great flight and crew, wish I had a good reason to fly this route more often! Will see what credits to my BA account

Did you book it through LAN?

It was booked via an OTA months ago, worked out a little cheaper that way.

Just for info, I couldn't persuade them to let me through the fast track security at MAD with a LAN boarding pass, apparently it doesn't matter what shiny cards you might have, no fast track security for LAN passengers.

No big deal of course, just a bit of extra walking to get back to the regular security after being turned away.

Thanks. How far is the lounge from the gate area?
