LAN GDS Switch to SABRE 7/8 SEP 2012
Press release, en español
Online check-in, upgrades, etc., will be affected during the switchover period. Apparently, they've learned the lessons of CX, UA and VX, and hopefully this will be a much smoother switchover.
That said, I am glad I'm not traveling on those days, and not at all until later in the month. I'd suggest anyone traveling on those days to have everything in order before hand and show up at the airport with ticket numbers in hand.

My family member contact is not looking forward to it. She expects problems, having to work late and at least a week for the transition.

I am more optimistic than with the others. I do believe they have spent bundles of time and money on training, and running concurrent systems before it goes live. Not to say that there won't be data glitches, but I am not prognosticating disaster ala UA.

Keep an eye out for additional award availability during the transition
When SQ switched reservations systems in July they inadvertently release too much award inventory!

Don't underestimate the not so positive attitude of the employees. Remember it is now SEPTEMBER and BEFORE FIESTAS PATRIAS (a five day weekend this year). What a bummer it must be to work on this transition as each day counts down to that festive weekend!

Perhaps the powers chose the holiday because of less business travel?

This post inspired me to re-check and call the AS Partner Desk this morning - I've been trying for a particular flight since February every few days and it finally opened up! Woo hoo!

They are switching from an Amadeus-Resiber hybrid to SabreSonic Customer Sales and Services and Sabre AirCentre Enterprise Operations.

I'm seeing lots of flights zeroed out that were pretty empty a few days ago. I spoke with an agent in SCL who said they were blocking new bookings on certain flights to avoid problems. It's not clear to me if that is what is happening but I am curious to see how it all shakes out after Saturday afternoon.

Hope the transition isnt causing any delays today. We are flying MDZ to SCL tomorrow and the check in lady at AEP on Wednesday told us to arrive at MDZ 2 hours prior to flight for check in, I was surprised.
