Any prediction on when fares may go down?

The beginning of December saw a huge leap in prices across the board. At the time I thought it was simply the seasonal increase. I hope I was right and prices will again return to closer to what they were a month ago. Any thoughts? Does anyone recall in past years at what point did the summer rates go down?

But wasn't the price of oil actually down when they did the major increase --- or is my memory faulty (totally possible :D)?

I believe it was already back on the upswing.
