RIP Danny Gans -- Dead at 52

I just saw his show in Vegas 10 days ago. Wow!

Wow, that's shocking. Also shocking how Danny was such a fixture in Vegas but pretty much unknown everywhere else. AFAIK he never did Leno, etc. to get his name out there... people went to see him instead.

While I never saw his show, he was a Vegas institution. His presence will be missed.

We are in town and were planning to see his show tomorrow night. We were shocked to hear the news this morning. He was a class act and a decent man.

Is anything being reported locally on cause of death?

Nothing on the national media.

I only "really" started going to Vegas regularly about 6 years ago and at that time I always wondered who this Danny Gans guy was who was apparently the entertainer of the year. I used to chuckle at the billboards every time I passed them. Then after a few years, I found that that I really enjoyed Vegas for more than the obvious strip/casinos, I started trying to learn about what made Las Vegas, "Vegas". I was surprised at how Danny Gans got started, his movement from pro sports to NY and then to Vegas and his example to all in something that is not synonymous with Vegas, ethics. Unfortunately his show was always one that I was going to hit my next trip and now that it was at the Encore I really had decided to hit it up on my next trip. Too sad. Danny, you really were a part of “my” Vegas. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch your show on the other side.

Las Vegas Sun website saying manner & cause of death pending as of an hour ago local time.

LA Times obit says paramedics called to his home @ 3:45 am for 'difficulty breathing' & pronounced dead shortly after. That sounds like either a stroke or heart attack (to me anyway).

Kind of tacky that the Encore website has nothing about his death and info about his show unchanged.

I am very sorry to hear this. Another great one taken from us too soon.

I first saw him perform ~13 years ago at the Stratosphere. A legendary performer has passed and will be missed.

Wow. And he was moving on up with his own theater at the Encore/Wynn. RIP.
