Access to Mandalay Bay Beach

Hi,

we are staying in a different hotel, but is it opssible to get access to the Mandalay Bay Beach?? How much would it be?

4 Seasons includes free access. Other than that, buy tickets to a concert being held on the beach or keep an eye on the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/las-v...ml#post6436578 thread for someone staying there the same dates as you.

Get a room key. At some hotels, you can ask for a souvenir room key.

If I'm in town (4/20-5/6), I'm staying at theHotel Thu 4/23 - Fri 4/24, but I also have Mandalay Bay room keys from previous stays. E-mail or PM me for a phone.

So far, Planet Hollywood has the only pool I know which you need an ACTIVE room key to access the pools. Most hotels just want to visually see a key.

I think there is a turnstile of sorts at the entrance to Mandalay Beach. I was there last year and recall having to more than just show a key. We had to wrangle extra keys from the desk so each of us would have no problem getting in and out on our own.

There are turnstiles at the entrance, and people just behind them look for your keys.

But unlike Planet Hollywood, you don't have to insert your keys into a reader to see if it's active.

Also, with the downturn in business, security might not be the same as 2 years ago. Then, Caesar's Palace charged $20 for it's exclusive pool. Now, anyone can use it at no charge.

Pools I know which just look at your key: Caesar's Palace (and very often there are no checkers), Bellagio, Mirage, Mandalay Bay.

I haven't been to any other pools lately. Forgot what Las Vegas Hilton does...

What I do: Ask for lots of extra keys, and save them in a ziplock bag for future Las Vegas trips. I double-check that the key design hasn't changed on future visits... (If it does, I show them the old one and ask for a souvenir. So far no hotel has refused my requests. Wynn keys have your name on them though, so my "room key" wouldn't pass for an active one. I'll have to wangle a free room offer from Wynn...)

Mandalay Beach turnstiles definitely have key readers that you insert your key into to determine whether it is live. Therefore that little scam wont work, most of the time.

I stayed at the Mandalay Bay 4/1/09-4/3/09, and never had to insert my room key into any readers. I simply showed my room key to the people behind the turnstiles.

Sorry to bump up such an old thread, but i still think the topic may apply to some today.

My question is will being MLife Platinum give you unlimited access to the Mandalay Bay Beach? Or do you still have to be a guest?

Also, anyone (non-guest) can buy a cabana bed, right?

Calipso Aug 19, 2013 3:31 pm

Guests only for the beach, unless you purchase a cabana,

SuperKirby Aug 19, 2013 3:43 pm

I called them, spoke to two different Concierge CSRs on different days just to be sure: Plat has access Mon-Thurs to the beach. No need to buy the cabanas.

However, it should be noted that both CSRs put me on hold as they had no idea. Came back with consistent answers though.
