I just returned from las and went to ces on 1/8-1/11. There were lots of people, but the number of exhibitors was down a lot from last year. There were large empty spaces in the Exhibition Center. I stayed (and gambled) at Paris; there were very few people playing the slots--but ces attendees were probably there for the show and not gambling.

Yeah we nerds know our math, and gambling - especially slots are not a good proposition. (unless you really get value from the enjoyment of playing them, and of course some do.) Plus you end up pretty busy if you are working the show.
I do like low limit craps and sportsbook betting. There is something really nice about walking up to a counter and saying "Fourty bucks on Phillidelphia" and sitting down with a cigar and watching the game on a 22 foot screen.

A coworker and I were at CES on Saturday, checking out the high end audio exhibit suites at the Venetian/Sands. It was probably one of the most comical mix of people I've ever seen - thousands of geeks milling around the same venue as the porno convention! At the end of the day, at around 4-5pm, you could see hundreds of people (all with CES badges) hanging out, lining either side of the convention hallway, at the exit of the AVN expo with cameras at the ready. LOL. Nothing like a bunch of CES geeks WISHING they were at the OTHER convention.

The strip clubs, though, do big business.
