Caesars ROH vs MGM Suites

I've got two reservations in September for our trip. One is a ROH room at Caesars and the other is the Bungalow King Suite at MGM. I paid about $8 more at MGM so price isn't a factor. I'm going Sept 20-22 and the rooms at Caesars are starting at $580 on the 22nd (it was $400 when I booked). I'm concerned that I might not be able to tip my way to an upgrade for $20 considering the likely "limited" availability of the Augustus Tower that weekend. Would I be better off keeping the suite at MGM and trying to upgrade to a nicer suite from there? From what I can find it looks like the suites at MGM will be better than the old deluxe rooms at Caesars (stayed in these before...not all that impressed).

Also, how is the video poker at MGM? I've read a lot about Caesars taking out a lot of their better VP machines and I think that's the game I want to focus my play on (I normally play poker) to start building comps.

At $400+ per night you'll likely need to think about a better offer than $20 to get a premium upgrade.

Exactly...which leaves me thinking, "$50-$100 (which was what I was planning to do all along) in hopes of getting an Augustus tower room vs $10 more at MGM for the guarantee of a suite and the possibility of an upgrade (room averages to about $190/night)."

not sure how the rates vary (like weekeds) at Caesars etc, but Skylofts @ MGM do start as low as $600 ($510 with amex plat) midweek.

Not sure if I'm reading this correctly, but you've paid $408 for one night in a Bungalow King Suite at MGM?

Edit: Wait a minute...you ARE mctrees02!
The code you kindly gave me helped me get a "Celebrity Spa Suite" (seems to be one step up from the Bungalow King) for $154 on the day I'll be there.

The rate for 21st September is $244 (or Bungalow King for $224). 22nd Sept is $429.99 (or Bungalow King for $389.99). This code expires tomorrow though!

PS: Yeah, when I first typed up this post I didn't realise you were the one who'd actually given me the code in the first place!

I paid $800 for 3 nights at Caesars but used the best rate guarantee to get it lowered to $600. I also had the reservation at MGM for $635 or so. In the end though, I was able to get a "better deal" on rooms at Bellagio and Wynn so I'm going to stay at one of those instead. Now it's just up to me to decide between the two...and getting me to make a decision that I can change any time in the next two months is all but impossible! ;)
