With the Harrah-ization of LV, they have tremendous control over the properties. Why not mount an experiment and make ONE of their many LV facilities smoke free for a year? I've always said if there were one completely free non-smoking casino in Vegas, it would be a huge hit.

Count me as one of the non-smokers who will leave tables when smokers arrive. Traveling to LAS involves a complicated series of bags to contain my "smoked on" clothing and multiple showers a day to get the stench out. Last time it was just unbearable.

Plus, the clientele there do not seem to be the heavy smoker types.

How is smoking in casinos nowadays? Should I be concerned if I just want to do touristy things? Caesars Palace specifically

Ah, off the top of my head, the Park MGM is the only smoke free casino? If you walk through most casino floors, you're going to smell cigarette and even cigar smoke. However, you'll get used to it and it really isn't that much of an issue if you don't linger on the casino floor. With high ceilings and excellent ventilation, it isn't going to be huge problem, in my view.

Walking around the Strip, you will smell a lot of pot smoke. A lot.

Isn't that the truth! I was in Vegas last week for a conference after not visiting for the past several years. The pot smell on the strip was pervasive. And the cigarette smoke in the casinos was way worse than I remember (which is why I visited this old thread to begin with).

When marijuana sales were legalized in Las Vegas, no provision was made for marijuana-smoking lounges.

So the tourists who purchase lawfully have nowhere legal to toke. (!)

Recognizing the bad look, almost entrapment, these circumstances create, the LVPD has been largely ignoring pot smoking in doorways and alleys in the areas frequented by tourists.
