Thanks for the info, everyone! I've got my first round of interviews tomorrow. I'm still not sure if its the right position for me as its different than what I'm doing now, but I figure I should at least learn more about the opportunity.
And it's great to know that there's a lot of FTers there - I'll finally hit 1K this year probably & be a NW Gold (dropping down from Plat probably as I'm focused on UA) - and as I don't know anyone in Vegas, it'll be good to have folks with similar interests if I do make the move!

Good luck with the interviews!
When it gets too hot, you can always come visit Seattle.
I'm sure you know someone with buddy passes

Well, oddly enough, if the Vegas position isn't right for me, the folks I've been talking to have one available in SEA as well - the only problem with SEA is that it seems more expensive that WAS is & that the position there is more analytical than strategic - though SEA has better overall visibility within the organization. We'll see - SEA is on the table too!

I'm from the nyc area, and the summers here are IMHO, with high humitidty, much much more unbearable than LAS in the summer.
I go to LAS about once a month; the strip, where I stay, is probably not where YOU will be living (unless you are into casinos.)
As others have noted the housing market is depressed--and big bargains exist--but you should check crime statistics for the area you will be living. Observe a neighborhood both day and night. A safe area in the day can be very different at night.
PS: Boulder City (not all that far from LAS), is supposed to be one of the safest cities--a carryover from the Hoover Dam project, this is where the workers lived. Boulder City is the only one in all of NEV, where gambling is not permitted.

LAS is definitely more affordable for housing than SEA ... but that Air Conditioning bill might bankrupt you

i moved to LAS about 14 years ago and lived there for about 2 years. still go several times a year. it was a different game then than it is now. even so, i still find it interesting and appealing. you learn so much more about the place when you're not a tourist and don't spend all your time on the strip.
my friends totally dig when i take them to off-strip places and that's a regular part of every trip now. they all want to visit interesting, off teh strip places with nice people working in the casinos.
also, keep in mind that there's no state income tax so, depending on where you come from, it might be an even bigger increase in take-home income.
and electricity was pretty cheap from what i recall!

Henderson/Green Valley Ranch area is safest/best, runner up is SW & Summerlin/NW. Stay away from the NE, Nellis & all downtown for residency. The strip area is the only traffic nightmare, otherwise navigating away from strip area is no headache.
Best wishes with all your endevours
