Tahiti Village free stay?
 

I was driving home from Vegas last weekend and a radio commercial kept playing about the Tahiti Village timeshares. They're offering a free stay if, of course, you listen to their pitch to buy a timeshare.

I'm thinking of booking a stay for the next time I head to Vegas. Has anyone gone to one of their presentations? How is the hotel? How long is the presentation?

I wouldn't do it. it is not a great location IMHO.

I’m interested in looking at the timeshare opportunities in Las Vegas. Is there any kind of promotional package that I can sign up for and how does it work?
Consolidated Resorts has an exciting mini-vacation offer to Las Vegas that gives new customers a chance to see one of its resort properties and discover how they can become a part of the Consolidated family. Been there, done that
 

My wife and I went to their presentation in early November. We didn't use the free stay promotion - we signed up through their desk in New York, New York - so I can't comment on the "free stay" aspect of the deal.

As for the presentation, it wasn't terrible. We basically got $100-worth of free show tickets for 2.5 hours of our time, so I think it was an equitable trade.

A basic timeline of events:


4:00pm pick up at our hotel in a mini-bus

4:15pm arrive at Tahiti (the presentation was not actually at Tahiti Village, but their sister property west of the strip)

4:20pm salesperson introduces himself to us and takes us to a large meeting room with 30-40 small tables set up

4:25pm small talk (albeit i'm sure very calculated, planned small talk) with the salesperson

4:40pm Weatherman-cum-marketing director (no, i'm not kidding) gives an opening spiel about the company, history, and value of a time share as well as a run-down of the current promotions

4:55pm Short video (with Alan Thicke!) about the history of Las Vegas and more about the value of owning a time share

5:10pm the pitch begins, filling out the same inofrmation multiple times (name, address, vacation interests, income, etc). It gets very loud thorugh this time because there are 30 salespeople and their 30 prospects all doing the same thing in very close proximity to each other

5:20pm tour of the sample rooms set up within the Tahiti

5:35pm back to the initial meeting room - they finally show you the prices

5:45pm (assuming you have been politely firm that you are not interested in buying up to this point) a last ditch effort by the supervisor to sell you some piece of a time share

5:50pm more small talk with the initial salesperson (sales pitch over at this time, now just killing time until he gets the signal thet we're "released")

6:00pm we are released, pick up our "gift" on the way out the back door (we are far from the last ones to leave) and hop on another mini-bus back to our original pick-up point

6:15pm dropped off back at our hotel, no worse for wear


In general everything seemed to be on the up-and-up. We had no problem using our ticket voucher for our selected show. I'll have to admit, that had I been inclined to purchase a time share, the final offer would have been intriguing. We were invited to come at some point in the future for a "free stay" if we wanted to do the sales presentation again.

No follow-up harrassment after we returned home.

Caveat: I would suspect that any interest shown whatsoever in actually purchasing a time share interest would significantly alter your experience.

My personal opinion is that timeshares are a huge waste of money (I am sure some people here will disagree) and by going there, they are going to do a very good job of pressuring you into buying...I hope both you and you SO have strong will-power.

That said, the location of Tahiti Village is not all that bad. Sure, it is way south on the Strip, but there is only one direction the Strip can grow, and that is south. There are already plans to build two new large casinos at the FAR, FAR end of the Strip at St. Rose Blvd. So eventually, Tahiti Village might actually wind up in the middle of things - which is a good thing/bad thing depending on how much you want to have a timeshare in the middle of things.

But seriously, for the money this timeshare will cost, you could probably afford to fly to Vegas once every year for the rest of your life and stay in a nice hotel/casino - and not be locked into paying yet another mortgage...just my humble opinion.

I have no intention of ever buying a timeshare--I just want to do the Tahiti Village presentation so I can stay in Vegas for free a couple of nights. I'm from LA, and since Vegas is only a 4-5 hour drive or a $39 flight away, the only thing I really ever spend money on is hotels. Since I go to Vegas at least 4-5 times a year, one free 2-night stay would be really great.

baby61212....keep in mind the timeshare people will not stop when you leave LAS. and your name/address/info will be sold.

most of the "free" stays are for weeknights only.

I drove by Tahiti Village and its nearby sister property last month. Had to walk in both places to see if they were as tacky as the people they have hired to do their promos. If you listen to the radio ads, the placement of the ads and who is doing the talking, you will find exactly what you deserve. I know nothing of the OP and it might be a good fit. If you see any of the whores that stick their voice on the ads, I'll deposit 300,000 Aadvantage miles to your account. Yes, I mean if you see them doing an overnight stay at Tahiti Village.

For 300,00 Aadvantage miles, I'll drive to Vegas and find a whore, and take a picture with her in the lobby at Tahiti Village! :p

Ahh, now I know why they never bugged me but constantly harrassed my friend and his wife as we walked thru the hotel. :D
