Also, TI caters to a lower end clientele now that there are so many better options – look for Cousin Eddy from Vegas Vacation.
FWIW - you can stay at the Aladdin for $49-$79 night, midweek. It's right across the street from the Bellagio. I find "lower" end clientele all over the strip... that is just something you have to get used to... considering the Aladdin is $49 to $79 midweek... unless the rooms at TI are going for $20 per night... me thinks that this same Cousin Eddy clientele can also afford to stay at the Alladin... Maybe that is why I frequent on the weekends... my comp offers are good.. and the room rates shoot up to over $200 [sometimes way over] on many occasions... All kidding aside... I am really surprised by your comments about TI... it might have just been a bad stay... which, I have had happen at many a property [including Ritz Carltons and the like...] Also... even some of the older properties in Vegas treat their invited guests very well... |
Vegas not for kids
Recently returned from vegas (last weekend) went for a conference. At first I thought about bringing my 9 year old daughter, but after going there I'm glad I did not. We stayed at the Venetian (which by the way was excellent) but I can honestly say I don't know what I would have done with my daughter. We did alot of walking and I'm sure I would have heard I'm tired many times. The days we had free to see the fountains and the TI show, they were cancelled because of wind. (What wind? I guess they don't live in the northeast!!)
Sure you can take your kids to excalibur, and circus circus but then what? I saw alot of families with their children, and I kept wondering to myself why? Especially when I saw kids up at 10 and 11 at night. Do yourself a favor, Vegas is for adults, let the kids stay home and have an adult trip. |

No idea what problem Mike had at TI. It's been upgraded from "what it once was" and usually a real bargain. I don't know about the regular front-desk personnel but the VIP staff and casino hosts are very friendly. QL |

So can the OP, who is obviously not a Vegas regular stay at the MGM for $50? |
Circus Circus is a DUMP. The last two times I was in LV I was asked by a traveling companion to visit this place as they'd heard so much about it and not been there for *years*. It was TRULY gross just walking through the place. It was FILLED with a great unwashed sea of humanity. There were unaccompanied kids *everywhere* including on the floor of the main walkways. The floors were dirty, by the way. People were literally changing diapers in the hallways during this. I should note I saw this all twice, on visits that were weeks apart. I had to be dragged into the place and both times I was dragged out within five minutes. *ANYWHERE* else is better than this place. Based on the lobby/casino/parking deck I can only imagine what the rooms are like. I don't want to find out.
But please, don't take our advice on this. Check out this review of the place which says in part: ROOM RATING: Who in their right mind would want to stay here? The rooms, even in the new tower, look like a really bad quality Best Western room. The decor isn't as garish as you'd expect, but everything looks worn and seems to be decorated by a K-Mart blue light special shopper. The bathrooms are awful: small and dingy, like a dormitory bathroom. And the views from your room of the porn houses are first-rate. |

Nearly anybody can get a $79 room at the MGM on a weekday plus a $35 food credit on a two-day stay, which is not that far afield from $50. Join the players club and play a little, and you will receive a mailer with an attractive offer. And the MGM is worth checking into... they have many more restaurants and entertainment options than most LV hotels.

Circus Circus is a dump....but I must say the steaks at their Steakhouse was pretty good.

I'd forgotten about this review:
http://www.cheapovegas.com/vegas_cas...?hotel_id=1023 One of the most recognizable casino names, Circus Circus has developed a large reputation -- most of it pretty negative. It's not the pink monstrosity it once was, but with little kids running around everywhere, it can be a pretty unpleasant place. Because of their name recognition and relatively cheap rates, many people end up here for their first trip to Vegas. Unless you're traveling with small children that you want to leave unattended, though, we suggest thinking long and hard before booking a room here. |
And another article on Vegas for the younger crowd:

Sorry to hijack this thread, but it looks like its discussing cheaper accomodation in Vegas.
Am intending to book the Mardi Gras due to $$ constraints. Do you guys recommend it? Looking for something in the range of $80 on 23-25 Dec. |

Is priceline safe to use? I mean would the property not honour it? |
Dec 23-25 in Vegas is pretty quiet. Most of the major shows will be dark. It's cold in Vegas at that time.

Alright then. I'll phrase it in another way. What hotels would you regulars recommend usually in the $80 per night range, if its possible.. (I know its hard) Some I have heard: Luxor, Excalibur, TI, Aladdin. Anymore in this range, and on Strip? |
