MGM Grand - res problems

So, being the savvy traveler that FT has taught me to be, I called last night to confirm my reservation at the MGM. I was set to arrive today (Sept 22), and used that package promo posted a while back. Also purchased my AA tix... all done in July.... also got all my email confirmations for my dates

The front desk said that I was a no-show b/c I was supposed to arrive on Sept 15 (last week!). Sounds like a server error to me (since I had my confirmation email). It was late at night, so all they could do was forward me to "casino marketing" so THEY could book me that package (now I'm double-charged). I have to call/speak to customer service today to get my charges reversed.

Observations:

1) If you booked the MGM, CALL TODAY to make sure all is well.

2) I didn't appreciate the fact that a couple people initially said, "But YOU didn't show up on the 16th...."

3) I'm definitely looking to get comps for this little debacle (spent a good hour dealing with it when I was supposed to be sleeping  ).

4) This would've been a nasty surprise if I had just arrived at LAS and tried to check in... and a bad start to the trip.

Be aware! :D

At least you found out ahead of time. Was comped at Venetian, showed up and said I did not have reservations. Turns out the reservation was for the following week, spoke with the casino marketing person who took my reservation and as soon as I got on the phone she's saying "you said this and that" immediately on the defensive  Long story short I repeat or have them repeat the complete itinerary to me before I hang up now.

I am always such a paranoid person.... I just can't help it. I always have my host make reservations in The Vegas... but, I always request an email and a confirmation # which I can verify with the property.

Then, I always call the property directly a day or two after I get the confirmation #; just to confirm the details.

Some properties, such as Rio, let you check online [as long as you have a confirm #] -- I really like that... I wish more properties would allow you to double check your reservations online [similar to the way you can w/ airlines].

Problems have been solved.... no CS comps yet, though (shoot, it's like I'm expecting bonus miles or something :P). Actually, that airport checkin desk is great... reversed my charges and gave us keys.. no lines! ^

FYI - Just walked by the Excalibur front desk... they have self checkin screens! First time I've seen this at a hotel. It's brilliant.

Good to know. Thanks!

Venetian had those when I was there Feb 04 but they only worked at that time with reservations made on venetian.com.
