Check Cashing in LASHi

Hi Gang,

Wasn't able to find this on search.
I'm behind on my plans this weekend. Will the casino cages at large hotels cash checks (with proper ID of course). Any fees in the casino cages?

Thanks in advance.

It depends,If it is the hotel you are staying at then they will cash up to a small amount($200?)If you are going to need some real money then aply for credit at one or two of the big properties and you can use your cridit line to get cash and then write them a check.
Otherwise there are tons of ATM's throughout Las Vegas.

If they can verify the check (unless we're talking about something on the smaller side) with your bank it shouldn't be a problem. If ATMs aren't a sufficient back-up, it's best to call the cage ahead of time and see what their procedures are. I don't think there are any fees.

Vegas with no $$ is no fun.

I ran into this problem one time last summer, when I didn't bring enough cash with me to Vegas, didn't have a rental car for a couple of days, and refused to pay the exorbitant ATM fees at the casinos. So I figured perhaps the downtown hotel/casino I was staying at (Las Vegas Club) would cash my personal check.

I only needed $100 cash (I'm by no means a high roller ) but the cashier at the cage told me they only cash checks in a certain range, like $200-$300 (not sure of the exact number) because it'd cost too much to try to collect on a bad check for a smaller amount, and the casino didn't want to take the risk on a larger amount. I ended up having to write a check for $225 or so, more than I wanted.

There was no electronic verification involved, and no fees. They just took down my name and driver's license number and that was it.

I can't believe casinos even cash personal checks anymore due to the amount of fraud, but I'm glad they do so since it allows us to avoid paying those awful casino ATM fees.

Thanks, this is all helpful.
Just FYI, Mohegan Sun in CT allows you to cash checks with a player's club card and driver's license. AC allows no check cashing AT ALL.
Luckily I think I will get to my bank this AM before my flight.

The whole post about Mohegan Sun taking checks is completely wrong. They send your information out to a separate company who then judges your trust worthiness and then offers a check limit based on that trust worthiness. In other words it's a complete joke. Don't .... your vacation up just go to foxwoods. This coming from someone who just had to deal with the ......... I have thousands of dollars in my accounts and they gave me a 50 limit based on the fact that I have never cashed a check with Mohegan Sun before.
