Please don't do it! I think riding the monorail within the next year is almost equivalent to being a crash test dummy. There have been so many problems I suggest you wait, and wait some more. |

Here's a link to the monorail website -
http://www.lvmonorail.com/about_01_n....asp?newsID=29 If you like they will e-mail you if/when it's up and running. I don't expect it to be any time soon and also agree that riding it for the first year or so could be at your own risk. |
Oh, too bad. I actually was there the week it opened. I was at a conference and staying at the Hilton, and it certainly made getting back and forth to the strip very easy.
|
It said on the Hilton website somewhere that it would be open end January 2005.
Must be serious if it takes that long to fix ...unless it has been sabotaged by the cab drivers.... |
Hope it is tried and tested before end of January.....I am going first part of February for Super Bowl parties....probably not a good time to be testing a new "toy".
:( :p |
Still out of commission as of Dec. 2. I walked from The Strip to the Convention Center in the morning and cabbed back later in the day.

Going to vegas 11-14.. Wished it was running! |
If you are a Vegas visitor who likes exercise, the walk between the Monte Carlo and the Convention Center is exactly three miles -- a bit more than one hour at a fast clip. Avoid the Wynn construction zone, where the sidewalk on the east side of The Strip is closed.

At least they are testing it. |
Was reading somewhere (possibly the Review-Journal) that they still haven't figured out what happened - and until they do, the monorail is out of commission. They've lost (based on projected revenue of $85,000 per day) $5,000,000 since the September shutdown (I was in Vegas when it happened - and had missed riding the monorail by that much). Earliest return to service is projected as January 2005 (if then).
