Why is March so expensive for rooms??

Checking out a few places to stay and found March to be expensive - any reason why - I am coming out 28th March - and early booking specials or do I have to cross my fingers and wait??

Hi gwensvilla,

Living outside of North America, you probably haven't heard of March Madness... It is the college basketball national championship tournament. It lasts nearly three weeks.

In 2004, the game dates are:
March 16
March 18-21
March 25-28
April 3
April 5

The games are all around the country. There are no games in Las Vegas. People just gather to gamble, party, and watch the games on TV.

In addition to the above stated reasons, it's Spring break for many colleges, beautiful weather in Vegas...and it's still 6 months away.

All reasons for high room rates at this time.

There are many big events and conventions/trade shows in Vegas in March. The Nascar weekend in early March draws around 100,000 out of towners, and the ASD/AMD Trade Show around the same time has something like 7000 staffed booths and 50,000 buyers in attendance.

Conferences too. I'll be in Vegas probably in march for a Golf Tour - http://www.wagagolf.com/media/LasVegas.pdf - we get around 500-600 people for each of the touraments.
