Bo, I have never stayed at the wynn - i usually move around and havent stayed at one single property - stayed at thehotel, aria, mandarin oriental, trump - all suites usually. Just curious have you stayed at the remodeled room?
Yes, the remodeled room is - basically the same as the pre-remodeled room. Just some color updates, I think new carpet and maybe a piece of new furniture here and there. I didn't really notice a difference, and the old rooms were so well maintained, I don't see why they spent money on an update at all.

Yeah, you're not going to be disappointed if you stay in a "regular" Wynn room. I've stayed in it and Encore suites, and there's nothing left to worry about if you don't get the upgrade. Just be prepared to pay for any upgrade. The "$20\50\100 Trick" isn't going to get you anything other than perhaps a higher floor, if you so desire one.

I have heard of people taking a large sum of cash or a cashier's check and leaving it to put towards their account in the casino before they checked in, even if they didn't intend to have a lot of play, in order to get a little extra by way of f&b from a host. Haven't tried this myself, though.

This really doesn't work anymore. Unless a host has a previous relationship with you (form another casino), or you are recommended by another host you aren't going to get 'up-front' comps from depositing 'front-money' (that's the term for gaming cash-on-account instead of using a casino credit line).

Perhaps, a casino rate and/or a room upgrade; but everything will be based on reviewing your play before checking out. Sort of makes sense, since everything gets charged to your folio anyway. No need for a host to give you anything 'upfront', they will just promise to 'remove the charges' after your play and before check-out.

Now, some big (known) players insist on 'upfront comp promises' (usually RFB); but that's a totally different situation because they are known (and often also have established casino credit at multiple properties).

That makes sense. Oh well we'll probably be booking for May when I got an email for a code for the dates we want. The misses wants to do some of the "Uncorked" stuff, and it's not exactly an arm twist to get me out there

Of course, if you wire $500K (or so) in 'front-money' you will probably get some attention.

Just got back from the Wynn - I ended up using check in at the main registration area and it wasnt too bad. So the clerk put me on floor 51 on the resort side as tower suites were booked solid - wasnt too shabby but next time I want the exclusivity of the ts. i also used the main valet and it was a pain - very long wait during peak times.

Has anyone booked a good rate at the Wynn lately? I have stayed there three times and never paid more than $169/night and my wife and I wanted to go again in early April and I am finding almost $300/night. If they don't run a good special I might stay somewhere else this trip. Any thoughts?

I just got a mail offer for 3 nights comped at the Encore. I've never done one of these complimentary room offers before, and I was worried the dates would be terrible, but I was able to score a friday, saturday, sunday free room! It says there will be a 20 dollar daily charge which gives me access to the gym and internet, so I'm cool with that.

Are there any other weird hidden charges or taxes I need to be aware of? Also, they said I need to give them 48 hours notice if I need to cancel or change, but I was thinking the whole time, I haven't given them my credit card. What are they going to do if I no-show? Will they just blacklist me, or will I be somehow liable for this money?

Yes - the Wynn has these chrome and glass machines with handles on them all over the property. They can take an unlimited about of your money, so be careful.

Heh thanks for the advice. One more thing, I got the room with 2 double beds, and I was planning on going with 3 friends and just sharing beds. The thing is that the terms and conditions on the webpage specifically say "limited to single or double occupancy". Are these terms actively enforced? Will I get charged extra if they find we are actually sleeping 4 people in this room?

Just check-in by yourself; and request a few extra keys.

Never an issue; especially if it's ONLY one extra person.

Fill the room with 12 of your closest friends, and housekeeping might notice.

Either way, if you are paranoid housekeeping might notice/care (which they won't); just leave a $5 tip each day. (if for no other reason, than your own peace of mind, since I'm guessing if you are asking this question, you like to worry.... )

Wynn tower renovation status

Planning on a trip to Vegas for the girlfriend's birthday the weekend of May 20-22. We usually stay in the Palazzo but felt like trying something new. Through FHR I can book a Wynn tower room with a possible upgrade and the late checkout (something we'd very much want).

Just wondering if anyone knows what the status is on the renovations. From what I gather they are "60%" done after having started after the new year Whig suggests they should be finishing around April/May. As that weekend seems to be a bit more expensive than others I'd really hate to splurge only to just miss out on a renovated room (we are also considering checking out the Cosmo which would at least guarantee something new.

Only info I found was a news article talking about how they were about half done with the Towers. Supposedly, they worked from the top down and blocked off rooms a few floors above and below -- does anyone maybe know how far down they were recently?

According to this recent news article:

The renovations are complete in Wynn Las Vegas’ Resort Tower and are 60 percent complete in the hotel’s AAA Five Diamond-rated Tower Suites. The room remodel is expected to be finished in the second quarter of this year.
