Shadow Creek is available to all guests staying at MGM Mirage properties.
$500 at Wynn is an inflated price to make RFB+ (think $550 per hand/four hours per day) players feel like they're getting something special complimentary. Otherwise, hardly anyone actually pays that much. I did read a review once on TripAdvisor (not the most reliable source in my opinion) that someone scored it for $250. Maybe there's some kind of seasonal discount? |

Maybe there's some kind of seasonal discount? It's a gorgeous course but I don't blame Wynn for wanting to tear it down. It's on a piece of land worth a few hundred million...and he spent 10% of that to build a golf course that generates very little revenue because of the high price. |
I inquired about the course when staying there, and it was indeed $500. I also highly doubt someone only paid $250. Bargains don't seem to be the Wynn's thing. There are some courses that I would pay $500 for play, that's just not one of them. Hell, St. Andrews in Scotland was only $25, granted it took quite a bit more to just get over there. Our room faced the course and we were very high up so I could see how many people were playing, and I never saw more than 2 groups at any given time on the course.

Las Vegas Golf
Anybody have any ideas on golf courses, that aren't incredibly expensive and aren't a long distance from the strip, in Vegas. I am trying to organize a summer bachelor party and would like to get a round in. Thanks!
|
I'm interested in this as well (bump). I'm going to Vegas on Mem Day for the week and am looking for a course designed for terrible golfers like myself.
|
"Not incredibly expensive" is not a term usually associated with Las Vegas golf, especially close to the strip. A couple of my favorite reasonably priced courses that are 30-40 minutes from the strip are Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City and Angel Park Golf Course in Summerlin.
Please remember how hot it will be during the summer when planning your tee times. If at all possible do your golf before the serious bachelor party activities, so you still have the ability to make an early tee time. scn, Angel Park could be good for you too. They have a Par 3 course that I haven't played yet, but looks pretty good. It's also lighted, so you could play at night which would be fun. |
Angel park
My parents have played Angel Park in the past and really enjoyed the Par 3 on hot summer evenings. They used to have connections at the Desert Inn before Wynn got a hold of it and said it was worth the price (they paid 1/2 the regular green fees). I thought about going for our bachelor party next month but everyone except me arrives at 10 PM Friday and leaves at 9 AM Sunday. Not really enough time to do everything.

There is also a municipal course in Henderson, Wild Horse, which is reasonably close to the strip and reasonably priced. It's not the best course in the world, but it's decent. It's on Warm Springs Road and Green Valley Parkway.
You may also be able to get a discount on summer tee times due to the heat, which may allow you to get to a more expensive course for a more reasonable price, but I think those summer rates generally kick in after Memorial Day. |
2 things to look at...
1. www.golfnow.com for discount tee times. I've used it for Vegas, Dallas, and San Francisco and never had a problem. 2. Check out this book ---> http://www.shoplva.com/ProductDetail...temNumber=1536 |
Thanks
The feedback has been great and the website is a really big help. Just a follow up to the initial post. It looks like it is a good deal to get the tee times and hotel separate but if anyone has done a package deal that turned out to save some moola that would also be great to hear about.

i played the Falls course last year and that is a good course - a little expensive - i think i paid $180 in June - this is not on the strip though - it is by Lake Las Vegas by the Hyatt. The back nine is very pretty as it has a lot of elevation changes. You can also get a caddie to assist but they have to be requested in advance. The other course Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas is supposed to very nice too but i have not played that.

Golf?
Anybody have any golf discount/free coupons that would be good in Las Vegas in September? I have miles/GC's for just about everything. Let me know.

I have used www.golfnow.com in the past, the discounts have ranged from the so-so to great (ymmv of course). I have found their best deals are the ones they have sent out through their emails giving a direct link to a site feauturing nonrefundable pay immediately specials with substantial discounts. The way the site works as far as I know, they publish deals that they negotiate with the golf courses using their unreserved tee times and slow hours Good Luck, sdcarver |
Golf in Las Vegas
I'm visiting Vegas for a couple of days at the end of August and just wondered if anyone had any advice for getting a round of golf in while we're there. We don't want to spend too much, probably $100 upper limit, and we are only beginners to the game, no handicap or anything. Would probably embarrass myself on a difficult/championship type course!
We were looking at: Wildhorse Desert Rose Aliante as an initial look around. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We'd probably be looking to play Saturday morning if that makes any difference... :) |
Golf?
Try Highland Falls in Summerlin. Good course for high handicappers and cheap. It's very scenic too. Another good choice out that way is Los Prados. But HF is better.
Enjoy! Matt |
