Circa for Super Bowl weekend: room quality, rollaways, things to know?

I have been to Circa twice, once very briefly and once for a few hours to gamble. When I gambled, I made a few grand (I was down a few grand when I entered) playing fairly splashy blackjack ($500+/hand in the HL room)... a host introduced himself to him and gave me his card, and I was offered complimentary Louis XIII cognac (with the proper glasses and all) while playing. It was pretty fabulous service compared to other HL rooms.

All that to say, I have been getting increasingly attractive offers in the mail that I have ignored. Until now: 4 free nights for the Super Bowl (Feb 8-12) and two tickets to their VIP watch party. I signed up, they called me, and I got the confirmation in my email. Considering the hotel was sold out months ago (and pretty much all of Vegas is sold out that weekend), it was too good an offer to refuse. So, here we go.

Questions:

1. Are the rooms nice? I know that's subjective, but curious how people would compare it to other Vegas joints. The comp room offered was just the basic king room. Typically I buy-up to something bigger at check-in in Vegas but I imagine the suites will actually remain sold out for Super Bowl weekend. (For context, I usually stay at Bellagio, which I find comfortable but very dated -- I love the piano bar, the pool, and the suite layouts... I also stay at Cosmo sometimes, buying up to a wraparound suite, but I'm not a fan of the wear-and-tear on the rooms. I find the Four Seasons quite nice but too far for me to stay there regularly.)

2. I invited a buddy along so he could have the second ticket to the watch party. Any insight on whether rollaways are (1) easily available, (2) comfortable, and (3) expensive? He may have an option to crash on someone else's couch if the rollaway in my room is trash or not viable. The VIP reservations agent who called me said it would be a mad house and was a little evasive about whether a rollaway would be available.

3. Anything else to know? Favorite F&B venues onsite, must-reserve items, etc? For example at Bellagio I tell people to nab a table by the piano in the evening when David Osborne is playing. At Cosmo I pitch the raviolo at Scarpetta, the tongue-numbing drink at the Chandelier bar (and the 1.5th floor bar), etc. Any such recs here?

TIA -- and if anyone else will be there and is interested in a FT meetup on Friday or Saturday, let's consider starting a thread in CommunityBuzz?

I don't want to invite bad karma but may book a room myself (though not at Circa). We definitely should start a meetup thread.

Hahaha Platbrownguy! We meet again - no more Krug though!

I am 50/50 if I will be in Vegas for the Super Bowl, if so, we have got to meet up! I will arrive Saturday night unless I can get better airfares between now and then.

To directly answer your questions - the rooms at Circa will certainly be more modern, comfortable, and updated than the Bellagio. I have stayed in the "regular" room, and the corner studio "suite". Almost all the rooms at Circa have a couch that a friend can crash on. Many have a couch that actually pulls out to a bed. They also have a twin king room (two king beds) and other larger rooms. If you are booked into a regular king, it shouldn't be too hard to ask for a corner king which ensures a fold out couch. The agent who booked may not know what kind of room will be available, call your host, they will tell you exactly what you can/will get. Buying up to a full suite will be tough that weekend, but in regular times is fairly easy. Because most (though admittedly not all) the couches fold out, I don't think they actually do roll aways at Circa which may be why the phone agent was evasive.

I will share the rooms facing the pool around floors 20 and below can be loud with the pool music and Fremont music, sometimes till 3am. If you're up that late, no problem, but I now take rooms facing north, they are quieter and don't have the "light pollution" of the Stadium Swim view rooms.

There is only one "fine" dining restaurant at Circa, and it is excellent. Barry's is in the basement and is certainly worth a visit. Food is every bit as good as Prime (without the view obviously), service is more casual and friendly, and has a great wine list. Be sure to make a reservation. If you have tons of comps to burn and don't mind a walk, the Andiamos Steak House at TheD is also very very good with a bit of an old school vibe (and a little less expensive) though I prefer Barry's.

The other restaurants are all more casual type places. I have enjoyed 8East but some of the dishes can be salty for my taste. Victory Burger is great for grabbing something to eat while watching the game, and I'm a big fan of Saginaws for breakfast. You can use your comp points at a few other downtown restaurants if so inclined.

We always hit the Legacy Club at the top of Circa for at least a drink or two around sunset. Used to make reservations, but now I don't bother. However, certainly would make them for SuperBowl weekend. Great views, but will be windy and cold up there in Feb, so book an inside table or a fire pit.

Bring your suit! The Stadium Swim pool will be heated to around 90F and makes a great way to start your day with a warm swim. Pool opens at 8a but no one gets there till 10 or so. I'm always on East Coast time, so I'm the one they open for!

Happy to answer any other questions!
