Upgrade from Encore resort to Wynn tower -worth it?

I stayed at the Wynn for the first time for one night last fall while I was in town for a work trip. I enjoyed it very much.

Now I'm headed back for work in a few weeks, but my husband will be coming along for the weekend before so we can enjoy a bit of what Vegas has to offer.

I've booked us in an Encore Resort King room via a Red Card promotion. I'm being offered an eUpgrade standby to a Wynn Tower room, which comes with daily breakfast, for an additional $85 a night.

My previous trip was a standard Wynn king room, which I upgraded at check-in to a high-floor strip view for an extra $25. I have not experienced Encore or the Wynn Tower suites and the only restaurants I've eaten in at Wynn are Allegro and The Cafe for breakfast.

Is $85 per night for a Wynn Tower upgrade worth it? Beyond the included breakfast, which drops the upgrade price down to $30/night, my only real reason for upgrading would be whether the Tower amenities are worth it and also whether the Tower room was much quieter than the Encore rooms.

It really depends on what your preferences are. Encore is "usually" generally more quiet than Wynn, but IME both Tower Suite rooms are fairly quiet. Encore rooms are a little bigger than Wynn. For the Wynn Tower Suites room, it's literally the same room as the regular king rooms, maybe a slightly different layout. So if you were expecting a suite, you'll be disappointed. Encore rooms are more of a suite since the sleeping and living area are kind of separated, while Wynn King and TS rooms are just a big open room.

The pros of TS King is that you get a private elevator for tower suites. For the breakfast, you get to have it at Tableu, which is excellent. For Encore TS breakfast option, you have to do room service. Also, if you're staying at Wynn, you can only use the Wynn pool (TS rooms does have it's own pool), but if you're staying at Encore, you can use both Wynn and Encore pools. You also get 4 complimentary items ironed if you're in a TS room.

For me, if I was going solo then probably not worth it. But if going with significant other or another friend, then yes. The Tableu breakfast is about $30-$35 per person so that upgrade fee is easily covered. Also, if you're staying at a TS room, you can use your room key to cut the line at Wynn Buffet, which can easily save you 1-2 hours if you were planning to eat there. A line pass would usually cost $15-$20 depending on the day.

Hope this helps. You can't go wrong with either option as both the Wynn and Encore are top notch properties in LV.

Very helpful, thanks. I noticed the breakfast credit is $50 so I gather you'd order off the standard menu at Tableau and pay the difference - as opposed to getting a complimentary breakfast. Anyway, thanks again for your detailed response!

That's correct. Thought I have seen a few data points where if 2 people ordered the "Tableau Breakfast" which is $31 each and not get charged the extra. YMMV. Forgot to mention, you also get access to the lounge next to Tableau if you're staying in the Tower Suites. Some light refreshments like coffee and tea.

If you are a pool person but like the shade, the Tower Pool has umbrellas available for free which with careful positioning you can get shade all day, the attendants will move the umbrella for you as well. That to me was worth the upgrade to the suites. You can also use the Tower drop off point and valet, which saves the walk through the casino.

Hi,

I have done an upgrade to thge Tower Suites and loved it ( once to a standard TS room and a couple of times there was a special offer at check in for a Tower Suite executive ( larger room and 2 bathrooms).

The brerakfast was a special menu at Tableau but now with a $50 credit the normal menu might be worthwhile . ( depending on when you go it might be worth making breakfast reservation as once we hasd a 25min wait).

There is also a free tea/coffee service ( help yourself ) until 830am in Tableau.

There is also as turndown service. The TS pools are smaller than the main ones ( you can go down from the TS pool to the main pool but will need your room key card to get back to the TS Pool) but the staff are great and often brought small fruit cups round ( plus a bottle of water when arriving)

Agree with easy_money's comments.

The line pass is very useful for the buffet .

Regards

Thanks. TBS, what did you love about the upgrade (to a standard TS room) specifically? I love pools, but my husband does not. So pool-related things probably won't tip the balance, but skipping lines and not having to trek through the entire casino to get to the elevators are useful perks.

While I have not stayed at Encore, another vote for the TS upgrade.

The TS rooms are much quieter than Wynn due to the number of rooms per floor but mainly the TS pricing attracts quieter customers. The car to room walk is shorter and the valet line for pickup is usually non existent.

my only question is how the eUpgrade works. If you don’t find out until the check in desk, you have a long walk from Encore to TS with luggage and your car is in the wrong place.

my last stay there, I pulled up in my rental Kia behind two RR. Had to laugh as I went to check in.

Hi,

The last time I used the upgrade you got an email about 24hrs prior to checkin saying that you were successful.

The eUpgrade page says it will notify you 48 hours before checkin whether your request is successful.

Hi,

Whilst the main resort is beautifu, the entrance and lobby bar area exude an air of elegance and tranquility ( which is unsual in the casinos)and loved the koi carp in the ponds alongide the the walkways from the drop off point to the main TS lobby/bar area. The Lobby area is luxurious with plenty of chairs and sofas.. The private elevators are very nive and the hall corridors are nice than in the main hotel. Having Tableau just beside the elevators means a short walk for breakfast and the TS pool entrance is just beside the restaurant ( you can dine in or on the terrace). The 2 TS pools are connected by a footbridge over the main pool.

Not exclusive to the TS I loved the fact that when you used the phone you got answered by name and when you set a wake up call the call came in the morning via a live person who addressd you by name rather than the automatic wake up calls used elsewhere.

For a small upcharge I would say it is worth it ( saving time at the bufett entrance is also worth something IME)

Regards

Good luck. Hope it comes through!

( also take the time to see the glass sculpture of popeye ( outside the wynn theatre), thw wynn bear ( art sculpture by Okuda San Miguel) and the outside fountain . ( walking to the venetian via the overhead walkway is also fun)

Sounds great! I’ve recently gotten into photography and was thinking of asking if I can take some photos of the floral arrangements and other art. Figured it would probably be OK if it’s not on the casino floor.
