Best Bars?
My coworker and I are wanting to hit a few bars while in town. We generally like a place that we can sit at the bar, have a beer, and enjoy the atmosphere/music/view/people etc. (not a club). Anywhere along the strip or downtown. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

If you want decent drinks cheap, try out Ocean One bar in the Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood. All of their drinks are 3 for 1 and you can mix and match as well as get them as one big drink and take it to go. Most of their cocktails are $10 for 3. Granted they might not be top shelf but it's a pretty good place to get a buzz going.

Stage Door bar on Flamingo East opposite Ballys. May not look much from the outside but the craic is great. Drinks are incredibly cheap for Vegas standards but eh this isn't a Cosmo or Balagio bar for example.

The Chandelier Bar at The Cosmopolitan.
The Mandarin Bar and the Mandarin Oriental. 107 SkyLounge at The Stratosphere has a decent happy hour and you can watch the sunset/Vegas light up. |
Cabo Wabo opposite the Bellagio is a good place to sit for people watching. Also there is the Beer Park at Paris, outside at NYNY is ok too.

Ditto the Chandelier and the Mandarin.
Petrossian at the Bellagio if you can get a seat by the lobby. (Get a cable car too, not on the menu - it was the official drink of the Bellagio) The Lobby Bar at the Aria is good too. |

As I've gotten older I'm more of a 1-2 cocktails/craft beer guy though. If you're looking to go fancier I enjoyed the Chandelier bar at the Cosmopolitan. They also have a selection of whiskeys/bourbons if that's your thing. I still haven't found a decent bar beerwise on the strip. Yardhouse has an excellent selection, but it's just a bar bar in a restaurant in that little LINQ promenade area. People watching wise, Paris had a nice bar/lounge for people watching, but the prices were steep and the drinks unexceptional IMHO. (Overpriced mixed drinks and not much selection on the beer front.) So that all being said, if you're beer people you may want to take a look at Ellis Island. I usually go to their restaurant for the steak and egg special, but they have a brewery too with cheep beer. ($2 for their in house brews IIRC. The stout isn't too good but their lager/IPA is decent) If you're willing to go downtown, I really like Atomic Liquors. Good beer selection, but also does cocktails/bourbons. |
