Changing Dates After Check In?

Does anyone know what are MGM hotel policy for modifying the period of staying AFTER you check in? For example, I have an upcoming trip, but the end date is not set in stone. If I reserve a 7-night stay, but need to check out after 6-nights, will I be billed for 7 or 6 nights?

If it's prohibited it should be in the terms and conditions when you go to book your reservation.

Try making a dummy reservation (without actually booking it) to see the full T&C's so you can look through them.

I've never stayed at a hotel that did not permit this with the exception of prepaid/nonrefundable reservations which ime are always clearly marked before booking.

I don't remember about MGM in particular but some hotels do charge a early checkout fee if changed after checkin.

Have you thought about making a 6 day reservation and a separate one day? You can then cancel the final one day up to three days before.

Plenty of hotels charge early departure fees even on standard reservations. Dummy booking at MGM shows they are effectively nonrefundable after check-in, according to their rate details:

You have the option to change your check out date at the time of check-in or before without being charged an early check out fee. However, in the event you decide to check out prior to your confirmed departure date that you gave at the time of check-in, you will be charged an early check-out fee in the amount equal to the applicable rate and taxes you were quoted for all of the days remaining on your reservation.

While that is the printed rule, I have changed MGM dates after checkin without being charged but I am a MLife Plat and gave a decent story.

Bottom line, you might get mercy if the situation comes up but don't count on it.

When the seven night reservation is made the room is removed from salable inventory for all seven nights. Dropping a night at the tail end, the hotel may or may not be able to resell the room.

If it is midweek and no big conventions are in town, it may be easier to reserve six nights, and add the seventh at the point you know you definitely will need it.
