Wynn, Encore Unrated By AAA

Wynn Las Vegas' Wynn and Encore hotels each had a 5 Diamond rating from AAA in 2012, but this year's announcement (1/18/13) omits both hotels from AAA's 2013 5 and 4 Diamond lists.

The AAA website indicates that Wynn has 0 Diamonds but, instead, a "FYI" icon. "The lodging listings with FYI in place of Diamonds are included as an information only service for members. The icon indicates that a property has not been rated for one or more of the following reasons: too new to rate, under construction, under major renovation, not evaluated, may not meet all AAA requirements. A property not meeting all AAA requirements is included for either its member value or because it may be the only accommodation available in the area."

Strange. This has got to be some dispute between Wynn and AAA. Perhaps Wynn doesn't agree with some specific criterion; maybe Wynn doesn't want to extend AAA rates?

No paucity of other five-diamond choices in LV - Aria, Bellagio, Venetian/Palazzo, etc.

It's relatively easier to get a five diamond than a Forbes four-star designation. AAA has a point system and makes it available to hotels so they know exactly what they can do to achieve diamonds - it's more physical/amenity based. Forbes keeps its criteria more hush-hush and has more of a focus on the service/interaction aspects.

I would think its most likely that Wynn doesnt want to offer the AAA discounts anymore. Not all hotels are rated...only those that participate in offering AAA rates in 2013 are rated.

Additional discussion in the Luxury Hotels forum:

Note that Wynn and Encore are still Forbes four-star and the Tower Suites for both Wynn and Encore are Forbes five-star.
