Any recent Experience at the Hooters Casino?
I am heading to Vegas at the end of October to meet a friend flying in from the west coast. I've booked a room at the Cosmo with my Marriott points just to make sure we have something but thought I would look to save some points and book a cheap room somewhere else when I saw the hooters casino come up for about $60/night.
I assume that means it's pretty terrible but figured I would ask around. It is vegas afterall so really all we are looking for is a place to crash a few hours each night. We'll likely be gambling all over the strip anyway other than Sunday when we'll be parked in a sportsbook for football. I know the location isn't the best but it looks like an easy walk to MGM, NYNY, City Center, and that end of the strip so we'd have some options and can always take a cab or the monorail to the other end of the strip.
Anyway, my main questions are is it clean, any decent places for food and drinks in the hotel (yes I know there is a hooters in the building but I can only handle so many wings over a 4 night stay), how's the pool, and how would it compare to other hotels. I've stayed at Luxor, Bally's, IP, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock, Palms, and Rio before and I'm assuming this would be closest to the Imperial Palace out of that group which is why I am thinking twice about it. Everywhere decent on the strip seems to be at least $150/night so over 4 nights I'd save about $450 with taxes or a lot of MR points. Any tips/help would be appreciated.

Recent Experience at Hooters Casino
you should definitely check it out! I go there quite a bit. It defiinitely is not the Belagio but that is the great thing about it. Very small and the staff are phenomenal. You will have more fun with the folks that work at this place than any other casino in town. And if you do get tired of the wings you can eat at the other restaurant that has fantastic food and everything on the menu is under $10! They have a great pool area. Again, it isnt Aria or Cosmo but the pool bar is great, and there is a DJ on the weekends. Always have a great time there. You should definitely check it out. it is worth the money, and you are saving a bundle compared to the other places!

Is the second post an ad of some sort?
It's at roughly IP level (though IP at least has Hash House now). For $60 you'd be better off somewhere like the Gold Coast (decent food & rooms... and a cheap liquor store within walking distance if that's your thing). If you're coming in Halloween weekend that's going to be tough due to football season + big parties in all the clubs. And the Cosmo will be the busiest hotel of all.
Monte Carlo and Tropicana are both decent bets for the south end of the strip. Edge to Tropicana after the renovations.

Appreciate the responses. I do like the friendly employees (that's why I gamble at the IP sometimes but don't stay there because the rooms and pool are terrible). I probably don't want to stay at the gold coast since its off the stirp although right next to the Rio and the palms. At least I've already got a room at the Cosmo to fall back on.
Don't know why but Halloween totally slipped my mind. Didn't even think about it but it makes sense now why everything on the strip is so expensive.

I haven't stayed at Hooters but I went there a few times with my friends. They have awesome late night food specials at Mad Onion restaurant with the food quality being decent. The casino floor is small and the only table games they really have are poker, blackjack (including a $3 one), and roulette. The drink service on the casino floor is pretty slow with the slot area barely getting any service compared to the tables.
Depending on the rate of other hotels, I would probably consider Trop, Monte Carlo, or NY-NY.

I stayed there once after a misconnect (back when you COULD connect on US) and it wasn't terrible. I'd certainly stay there again especially if I was just using it to crash and shower.

Appreciate the feedback. I think we are going to try it for one night since we get in late and I'd rather spend $60 to crash and shower than 35k marriott points for the Cosmo. We'll hit the Cosmo for our 3 full nights.

I agree with you. When you wake up the next morning what would you rather have in your pocket? Sixty extra dollars or 35,000 extra Marriott points? I'd certainly rather have the latter. A bed is a bed when you're tired.

Some of my friends stayed there once and checked out after the first night. They complained about stains everywhere and a mildew/moldy smell. Glad others have had better experiences.

Had a comp'd 3 day stay at Mandalay Bay but had to get into town a day earlier because of airfare. So, I went cheap and stayed there and WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!!! Casino is small, smoke filled, and couldn't possibly get any more redneck. Rooms were small and halls were noisy. Rooms were not dirty, but had stains and rubbed in grime that we there for life. There is no reason to stay here......
If it really is a $$$ issue, spend $20 more and stay at the Hampton Inn on the other side of Mandalay. Clean rooms, free breakfast, and you'll check out with your pride intact...
