Finally! They received approval to start built the high roller wheel. They will start construction sometime in a few month or so.

I rode on the LINQ yesterday--you get a panoramic view of LAS. Since the trip takes 30 minutes, there is little sense of motion. At http://www.caesars.com/thelinq/high-...l#.U-A_2LAg-Uk
there are various pricing schemes discussed, most $20/pp or more--maybe that is why there were few people riding it at 7 pm.
[Diamond and 7* players in Total Rewards (Caesars Ent.) get some shows free/month, the LINQ is one. The free ticket I had is actually a DAYPASS, good day and night.

The happy hour deal at $25 might be a good one for those can drink their moneys worth within 30 minutes.

The two times I walked by it (July and Aug) - there were very few riders. They are already offering discounts for locals. The only time I would want to ride it would be during New Years Eve - boarding at 11:50pm so I would be at the top during the fireworks show.

The show from the Strip Hotel roofs lasts about 8 minutes and there are other shows across the Valley as well. I am sure they will be charging premium prices on that night, as well as catering to high rollers. Perhaps they will funnel the music that is carried on several radio stations that is timed for the fireworks show.

I have not been there at night, so perhaps it is busier than.

I have been there at night twice, and it was not busy either time. I have never seen a line waiting, even when it first opened.

And another group of investors started another wheel across from Mandalay Bay. That project is shut down. If the "high roller" center strip can not cut it, the one across from Mandalay Bay would have been a complete failure.

Location, location! The views from that wheel would have been great to look at the airport.

In May 2012, the estimated opening date was further put back to late 2013,[7][8][13] at which time it was also reported that construction of the two main support columns had reached a height of 60 ft (18.3 m).[7] In July 2012 it was reported that Skyvue was scheduled to open on New Year's Eve, 2013,[14] and that its support columns, which had reached a height of about 61 m (200 ft), should be completed within a month.[15] A March 2013 update indicated the spindle and yoke were being assembled off site and would be installed "shortly".[16] No construction has taken place since that update. In July 2013 the developer stated “We anticipate construction to resume in the next couple of months.”[17] Projected opening has been delayed until mid-2015.[18]
Financing

On March 5, 2012, Shotgun Creek Investments, headed by Wayne Perry, announced their involvement in the $300 million project. By August 2012 they had "invested tens of millions" and may put in more, according to a statement released by SkyVue.[19] In early 2013 Shotgun Creek Investments made two loans totaling $9 million in the project.
I do not believe this project is going anywhere. We'll see.

Supposedly, CET isn't doing so well with the Linq project. Their overall financials aren't that great as well..

They also hold the most debt than all the other casino companies, followed by MGM.

Caesars Entertainment said in July that it's overhauling The Quad and renaming it the LINQ Hotel & Casino effective Oct. 30.

News like this is not good:

Caesars Entertainment Corp. (CZR:US), the casino company taken private in a $30.7 billion leveraged buyout just before the credit crisis, has taken steps in recent weeks that signal it’s poised for a massive debt restructuring that will saddle creditors with steep losses.

“We expect that something is imminent,” Alex Bumazhny, a credit analyst with Fitch Ratings in New York, said in a telephone interview. Fitch, which has a CCC rating on Caesars that’s reserved for borrowers where “default is a real possibility,” said it expects the company to attempt a debt-for-equity exchange with a group of junior creditors.

Caesars, with properties from Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to Harrah’s Atlantic City, has had only one profitable year since 2008 as it struggles to service $21 billion of long-term debt (CZR:US) amid a drop in consumer spending. Bondholders have suffered losses of $2.6 billion since September as the company gained regulatory approval for a refinancing that shielded valuable assets from lenders. Last week, advisers to a group that owns senior bonds of a Caesars unit entered into talks to restructure its borrowings, said two people familiar with the matter.

Chapter 11? :eek::confused::cool:

And this nice new name... Call it what it is - Harrah's.

And call the Quad, Linq by it's name: Imperial Palace.

Hey! We rode on high roller wheels and we had a great ride. We are on 550 feet high. I enjoyed the trip. We drove to Las Vegas. It was so wonderful time.

Thanks! We walked past it but didn't feel like riding at the time. You didn't take any pictures from the top, did you?
