High floor
 

Hi all!
Please advise which hotel(s) should I check if I'm looking for a high floor big room (around $100)/ suite (<$300) with a great view on the city? Which hotels are the highest? Thanks

One possibility is Mandalay Bay: midweek rates during non-convention times can (generally) fit your cost parameters (specify 550DR strip-view room or 1050 Sky View Suite).

Wynn has basic resort room specials for $120 midweek but you can $20 trick up to the panoramic rooms on the upper floors with a great view of the strip since it's pretty much at the north end of the strip.

Would love to hear reviews on high floor views of the strip from the Rio.

Depending on when you're going (i.e. after December 15), I'd recommend checking out Cosmopolitan at City Center - some amazing views.

Thought I'd switch it up and give you the places where I've had (relatively) bad views.

MGM - some boring views toward the back and side (looking at the fab hooters casino)

Caesars - had a wonderful view of power lines and the side of the Bellagio once

Imperial Palace - stayed there as a quick stop-over because everything was full. Was on 2nd floor with wall a few feet from the window

Bally's - once got to look at the ballys roof and parking lot for a few days

Ditto. My first two trips to Vegas, we stayed at Bally's; once for a great rate and the second as part of the package. Both times... view of the roof/parking lot.
Ever since with the $20 trick, I've been booking the cheapest rooms I could find and getting upgraded to high floors with great views of the strip, fountains, etc. It's only a quasi upgrade as it seems many of the hotels charge a bit of a premium for a view room.

Ah, you too? I ended up getting a room on the first available floor after the lobby (either 2nd, 3rd, 4th.. don't remember which). Was a suite that was level with the gravel on the roof, slightly angled to the big lights that light up the side of the hotel, looking at a big air unit, facing away from the strip.

Sounds brutal. I moved from the Imperial Palace room I mentioned. The room also smelled of smoke which was the last straw.

I'll add a few others:

Wynn - I got a beautiful room, high up at the far end. Problem was I got to look at the empty field which was once the iconic Stardust. Should have kept that hotel alive just for the strip eye-candy value.

Bally's - Once had a room with a partial view of the Belliagio fountains. Only problem was the windows were so damn dirty I got pissed every time I looked out them.

NY NY - The view wasn't bad other than the fact that a roller coaster whizzing by would get me up too early.

Aloha Inn, Barstow CA - All night it was lizards and rocks and trucks and hookers. And that was all inside my room.

I have now several opportunities: Wynn, NYNY, Palazzo, Bellagio.

And I have new requirements :) - I want to have large floor-to-ceiling windows. The suit in Pallazzo is large, but only one room has the window ant it looks not very big on pictures. Can anyone advise where can I get the room with a panoramic window?

We booked the Stratosphere for $32 a night. I know its at the far north end of the strip but the view from the tower (which is free for guests) is really cool!

Bellagio or Wynn. The view of the fountains and the strip from the Bellagio is very nice and you can switch to a tv channel that plays the fountain music in time along with the show. The Wynn has the windows you're talking about too. Ditch NY unless it's for price point.

as it will be only one night (my first in LV) I do not care much about the price. I just want to have the best experience possible :)
Is Pallazzo bad compared to Wynn?

Is this a romantic getaway with a woman? By yourself? With friends?

Venetian is fine. Bigger rooms but not my favorite. Huge place with tons of food and shopping. That might fit well with a first trip. Bellagio is the best location.

I'll be on my own :(
So at least want to have a great room and meals.

OK. A few quick thoughts.

- Drop your worry about "high floors". Nearly every good strip hotel has high floors with good views.

- I love the Wynn, but not sure if I'd stay there alone. I'd rather then be in the middle of the action (more so anyway). Venetian has more going on inside the hotel property. It's huge. Wynn is a quieter more upscale feel imho. As I said before, the Bellagio has the best location and a great feel to it, but better as a romantic couples thing.

- If you're young and want to party hard, consider the Hard Rock. Loud and small casino, but it's a world unto it's own.
