Tipping the shuttle drivers?
Do you tip the shuttle bus drivers while in Vegas?

Sure, if driver handles bags for you a little bit more.
|
Well, this website (http://www.vegashipster.com/vegastipping.html) didn't list shuttle drivers so I was curious.
I didn't want to sound like a cheap son-of-a-gun. |
I never do. As most Europeans, I find the US tipping culture more than a little over the top - shuttle drivers are definitely off that list for me. Unless as other posters suggest, if you really need their help with bags etc.
|
I'm a tight wad but would give the shuttle driver at least a buck because of the bag handling. (Unless you have just a small shoulder/computer bag, you will need to give your luggage to the driver to load in the back of the bus. You can't drag it on board with you.)

It appears everyone in LV expects a tip. I do a $1 per trip and always got my bags back. I do a $1 for a drink, a $1 for hotel car valet, $1 for whatever. I dont do hookers but assume $1 tip would get you beaten up with major bruising.

In LV everyone expects a tip--regardless what they do.

I have only carry-on, so the driver doesn't touch my stuff. There were several times that the driver didn't even bring me to the door of my hotel, but dropped me off across the street; on another trip he forgot about me, until he noticed that I was the last one left. I'm fed up with incompetent service people expecting tips.

The only time I'll ride the shuttle in LV is to and from the rental car center. Many times the shuttle driver will specifically target the carry-on's and leave the heavy luggage to the customers themselves to load. Offloading - they'll request all passengers to get out and wait for them to toss it to the curb and expect the tip.
Given the $15-20 in airport fees I pay on my rental, isn't that enough of a 'tip' already since the drivers obviously get a wage? If I get a friendly driver who I can tell has been working hard and geniuinly trying to help rather than fish for tips, I'll appreciate and tip a couple bucks. But in the last 3 years, I've only come across 1 driver who I felt deserved a tip (I always do carry-on and my bag is less than 25lbs) |
On the flip side however, a shuttle driver can work as hard as he/she can and all they get are attitudes and expectations that they should do all the heavy lifting (due to overstuffed luggage which the owners themselves are unable to lift) with nary a thank you.
