Husband's 30th Birthday...where to stay?????
 

Taking my husband to Vegas for his 30th Birthday in Oct., he hasn't been there since high school! I have been a handful of times recently but for work :( We will be there a week, looking at places like Palm's Place, Vdara or Signature, want a full kitchen since we will be there a week. Any recommendations, looking to party and gamble the whole week!

IIRC Stratosphere has mini-suites that includes a kitchenette. Candlewood Suites has a full kitchen but of course you'll need to drive each time you want to head out.

vdara is closest condohotel to strip

palms place is probably best, also one of the smallest properties, but with access to palms if you want it

How long does it talk to walk from Palms to strip?

Also the Planet Hollywood Westgate Tower.

Trump also has kitchens. It's North Strip, but Trump's location does compare to that of Wynncore.

The real challenge to walking is the bridge over I-15 - the bridge is NOT pedestrian-friendly, to put it mildly.

It's fine on the north side of the street.

If you are going to party and gamble the entire week,

you will have NO NEED for a full kitchen. Room service, in room massage -- yes! Full Kitchen, NO. ;););)

I've never tried to walk across it but it certainly seems workable. Don't try the south side, though!

I was thinking the same thing but gave the OP benefit of the doubt :).

im a kitchen/laundry person.. (residential/residential-style usually means a lot of space too)

even if you dont cook, fridge and microwave are good for leftovers, drinks, desserts, etc.

cosmopolitan looks like it will have those, and wine fridge, but no cooktop.

+3 on the "think if you really need a kitchen in vegas"

You can get a fridge brought to any room you want. Cheap food is everywhere if needed.

Or maybe stay half the time in a nice strip room, then move to a condo style if needed?


And DON'T stay at the Palms planning on walking back and forth to the Strip. That will get old real quick.

What I like about Palm's Place and Vdara is that they offer washer & dryer

you cant get a full size fridge/freezer brought to the room. :D

OP staying a week also makes a difference. (laundry especially) cheap food everywhere? i think not. yes vegas makes a difference in terms of comps, and OP mentioned gambling, but not how much. not to mention some skylofts and encore apts (for example) have full kitchens.

to clarify my last post, i am someone who would use residential amenities if my accommodation included them.

The Hilton grand vacation clubs are all very nice - the 1 bedroom suites are what you are looking for - washer and dryer in the kitchen. They are not not directly in the middle of everything except the one at Flamingo - but the price for a week stay is great. The one at the Hilton is quiet - and basically on the monorail. There is even a gas grill you can use at the pool - and if you are going to have a car with you to go shopping would be a great place to check out. I have stayed everywhere - that is a go to place for me when I don't want a casino in my face all the time with the smoke and noise. I still love the Wynn when someone else is paying - but touch the nuts on the desk and you are out $20 - and it is not a lounge in the living room place like the Hilton vacation club.

Maybe it's just me, but if you don't have a kid and are 30 yrs old, what in the hell do you need a full size fridge and a freezer for in Vegas?

And yes there's cheap food everywhere? Hard to name a big hotel that doesn't either have cheap food in their hotel or next door. I was just at MGM and they had a bunch (I won't list all the rest, but if you know Vegas then you know).

Laundry in Vegas? :eek: You can wear the same... ah - never mind.


I'm just speaking from my point of view, but for me the fun of Vegas is being in a high-rise hotel on the strip with a view. I'd sacrifice eating at Denny's, INnOut, Subway, etc... a few times to save money. You could throw 80% of what you'd put into a big fridge in a mini. Stove? Eat it cold. Wear that shirt an extra time or two. It's just now worth staying off the strip or paying more at the Skylofts or Encore to get it.
