Consolidated "Aria" Thread
Is the swimming pool open yet? Web-site says little about there being pool but there is a picture of a pool. There is only mention about a pool at the Spa which I presume one has to pay to use
We will be visiting in late March |
Last I heard, the opening of the pool has been pushed back to late March / early April, and I wouldn't be very surprised if it is delayed further. I probably wouldn't plan on it being open by your stay.

In a pre-opening press release from Vdara, they stated that their pool would be opening in March (even though the hotel would be open in December. That plan seems to dovetail with the Aria plan noted above. |
As someone who has a pool in the backyard, March is about the soonest you would ever want to be near a pool in Vegas.
I took a few pictures of the pool area from the buffet...it looks like it is totally finished and ready to go - water was in, chairs were lined up neatly, palms and plants abound. I suppose weather and the hiring of lifeguards is all they needs to align. |
Question about Aria
I stayed at Aria, and noted the following:
(1)The rooms are totally under electronic control: all lights, drapes, temperature, wake up scenarios can be controlled from the TV set, to a lesser degree from the mini-console located on the night table next to the bed. One can program scenarios for the room. They automatically have the room set to do the following when you first enter the room: (a)heavy drapes open, a few lights go on, the tv comes on. One bad thing I encountered, the battery on the tv remote was not working, so to turn the tv off, I had to select "shut down room" from the wall console, the tv went off, the heavy drapes closed, and all lights went out. I had to grope my way to get out of the room.:) They replaced the batteries and all was OK afterward. If one wanted to, you could spend a few hours playing with the controls.:p (2)They do turn-down service, and leave a few chocolates (supposedly the sign of an "upscale" hotel. (3)There is NO tv in the bathroom. (4)There is both a shower and a separate bathtub. (5)The casino is fairly large, but with lots of beams, lots of machines are in alcoves. (6)When you checkout, the taxi pickup area is at the other side of the casino. (7)If you take the tram from Bellagio, it is less walking to get off at the Monte Carlo stop. If you get off at Crystals (next stop), you have to go through the whole shopping complex, and then walk through an uncovered passage way to get to Aria. (8)The rooms are nicely decorated, and the bed is comfortable. (9)The buffet has well prepared food, but nothing spectacular--Bellagio's is better. |
You should file this report on Tripadvisor.

I went through City Center shortly after they opened and posted some pictures on a different thread. I agree with what you say about the buffet - didn't eat there, but they let me in to walk through. The weekend brunch was, I believe, $39 or so, and although it looked "OK", it was nothing like Bellagio, Paris or Wynn - or my current fav, "M" Resort. Everything looked OK, but nothing exceptional. Plus, the decor looked like upscale Denny's. |

There is NO tv in the bathroom. Does the shower have water pressure, or is it an environmentally overbearing mister? What kind of swag do they give out? Is there a separate phone in the toilet stall for her? |

Cry me a river. You could never see the damn things from the tub anyway.

The water pressure was "normal"; MGM (from my recollection) has the most pressure of the several dozen hotels I've stayed at. They have mouthwash. |

Thanks for this update - I try to get info from those who stay in hotels for my website and, to date, nobody I know has actually spent a night there - yet.
Also note a review of SkySuites here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luxur...iew-video.html

I did eat in the buffet on comp for breakfast. It was opening weekend and I hope it was just them trying to get their act together. I was not impressed (having been to Bellagio many times). I am glad I did not pay for it.
If someone has a better(favorable) review now that they have worked out the opening kinks I'd be willing to go back. But until I hear otherwise I will find other options. |
